Leona Louise Lewis, simply known as Leona Lewis, is a popular British music artist, singer and songwriter, as well as an actress. Leona Lewis rose to prominence in 2006, when she competed in and won a British music competition called “The X Factor”. As a winner of the show, Leona Lewis won an impressive 1 million pound contract with “Syco Music”, a record label which was founded by one of the judges on the show, Simon Cowell. In 2007, Leona Lewis released her debut studio album under the name of “Spirit”, which was highly praised by critics for its creativity, as well as showcasing Lewis’ singing range. Upon its release, “Spirit” made its way to #1 spot on the music charts in the United States and the United Kingdom, and maintained a top five position in Greece, Poland, Australia and Japan. In addition, the album spawned such singles as “I Will Be”, “Forgive Me”, “Better in Time” and “Bleeding Love”. The latter song proved to be Lewis’ best-selling hit single, as it went on to sell more than nine million copies around the world, which earned it a place among the top fve best-selling songs of the decade. Considered to be among the 100 Greatest Songs of the 2000’s, “Bleeding Love” went on to receive two nominations for Grammy Awards, as well as a nomination for the Brit Awards. The album itself has sold more than three million copies up to date, and become one of the best-selling debut albums. So far, Leona Lewis has released three more studio albums, one of which, namely “Glassheart” contributed a sum of $550,000 to her overall wealth.
A famous singer, how rich is Leona Lewis? According to sources, Leona Lewis’ net worth is estimated to be $22 million. Due to her remarkable net worth, Leona Lewis was able to purchase a home in Hollywood Hills, the worth of which is $2.5 million.
Leona Lewis was born in 1985, in London, England, where she studied at the BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology. Lewis left BRIT School when she was 17 years old, as she intended to focus on her singing career. One of Lewis’ first attempts was her “Twilight” album, which she released shortly after leaving school. Unfortunately, the album was not commercially successful and failed to earn her a record deal. It was several years later, in 2006, when Lewis finally achieved her breakthrough. After winning “The X Factor” with the song “A Moment like This”, Leona Lewis finally established herself in the music industry. This led to Lewis signing a contract for five albums with “J Records” label, which was worth $9.7 million. Shortly after releasing her debut album, Lewis came out with “Echo”, her second studio album, on which she worked with Justin Timberlake, Max Martin and Simon Cowell. The album proved to be yet another success, as it came to be certified double-Platinum with more than 2 million copies sold.
In addition to singing, Leona Lewis made her acting debut in a 2014 romantic musical comedy called “Walking on Sunshine”, where she starred alongside Annabel Scholey, Giulio Berruti and Hannah Arterton.
