Lenny Kravitz Wiki Biography
Leonard Albert Kravitz was born on 26th May 1964, in Manhattan, New York City, USA of Russian-Jewish (father) and Bahamian (mother) descent. He is an internationally known singer, songwriter, record producer and multi-instrumentalist. Music is the main source of Lenny Kravitz net worth, although he has also landed several notable roles as an actor. He has won Grammy Awards four times in a row, from 1999 to 2002, and has sold more than 30 million albums all over the world. Lenny Kravitz has been active in the entertainment industry since 1988.
So just how rich is this legendary singer/musician? Reportedly, the overall size of Lenny Kravitz’ net worth is as much as $40 million, accumulated from his wide-ranging career spanning almost 30 years.
Background facts about the early life of Lenny include that he was born to parents Roxie Roker, an actress and Sy Kravitz, a television producer. Since early childhood he loved music, and says that he was particularly influenced by such artists as the Jackson 5, The Who, Cream, Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix, Aerosmith, Kiss and Led Zeppelin. At the age of 15, young Kravitz moved out of his home and started practicing music together with friends. In 1982, he graduated from Beverly Hills high school, and they released their first demo which was very interesting for several record companies. However, the first studio album, “Let Love Rule” (1989), recorded together with bassist Henry Hirsch and saxophone player Karl Denson, was funded by Kravitz’s father. After this successful release, Virgin Records showed great interest, and signed Lenny to contract, and this collaboration continues up until now.
Up to date, Lenny Kravitz has released 49 singles, 10 studio albums, 41 music videos, eight video albums, six soundtracks, two compilation albums and two EPs which have added considerably to his net worth. All of his studio albums have appeared on the Billboard Top 100 in USA, and usually they were in the Top 100 in many European countries as well. More, every studio album but the last has received certifications for sales. Additionally, he has organized 16 concert tours and won many awards including MTV Video Music Awards, Brit Awards, Radio Music Awards, American Music Awards and other.
Furthermore, Lenny Kravitz managed to land a career as an actor, too, debuting on the big screen by landing a minor role in the film “The Rugrats Movie” (1998). Lenny received various nominations as well as Black Reel Award and Boston Society of Film Critics Award after successfully creating a supporting role in Lee Daniels’ film “Precious” (2009). Another well known role is the character of Cinna played in the film “The Hunger Games” (2012) directed by Gary Ross, all of which roles also added revenues to the net worth of Lenny Kravitz.
In the private life of Lenny, he married the actress Lisa Bonet in 1987. A year later their daughter was born, but Kravitz and Bonet divorced in 1993. From 1997 to 2001 he dated the well known singer and actress Vanessa Paradis. From 2001 to 2002, he dated popular model Adriana Lima. Currently, the singer is single.

Lenny Kravitz Quotes
- My mom and dad would take me all over. One night we’d be at the Apollo watching James Brown, and then I’d be at the Joffrey Ballet. It was that kind of scene.
- [re Michael Fassbender dating daughter Zoë Kravitz] Well, the door rang, and there he was, and he said, ‘Good to meet you, sir,’ and I was like, ‘Sir? We ain’t that far apart.’
- [on his Christian faith] I really do use Christ as my example and try to live this life and not just bulls–t with it.
- [on why he likes acting] It’s not all about me. When I make music , it is all about me – I write it, I record it, I produce it. I’m involved in engineering and mixing. It’s a big me-fest. That’s fine, that’s how it works, but it’s nice to walk away from yourself and serve a director’s vision and a character – and it has nothing to do with you.
- [on his mother explaining his racial heritage – a Russian Jewish father, and a Bahamian mother] I remember her telling me, ‘I want you to know your heritage. You are no more one thing than another, but society will only see you as black’. I don’t even know if I understood what that really meant, but I think I somehow got it, and got it more a couple of years later – that people weren’t going to see both sides. As people used to say back in the day, and maybe still say today, one drop of black blood and you’re black. That’s it.
- I had no idea ‘The Hunger Games’ was so big. I didn’t even know the book. I had been living under my own rock.
- I want to do interiors, furniture. I want to do architecture, although I’m not an architect. Nor am I a trained interior designer.
- [on the wearing of fur] My great-grandmother was a Cherokee. With the Indians, it wasn’t slaughter. I have some vintage fur. I don’t buy new stuff.
