Lars Ulrich Wiki Biography
Lars Ulrich is a well-known Danish musician, singer, record producer, as well as a drummer. To the public, Lars Ulrich is perhaps best known as one of the founders of “Metallica”, a popular heavy metal band, which was co-founded by Ulrich and James Hetfield in 1981. Currently, in addition to Ulrich and Hetfield, the band includes a lead guitarist Kirk Hammett and a bassist Robert Trujillo. Considered to be among one of the most prominent trash metal bands, alongside “Slayer”, “Anthrax” and “Megadeath”, “Metallica” achieved most of its commercial success with the release of their third studio album called “Master of Puppets”, which produced a highly popular single of the same name. “Master of Puppets” was “Metallica’s” first studio album to be certified Platinum six times, and to sell more than four million copies worldwide.
Several years later, in 1991, “Metallica” released their fifth self-titled album, which brought them even more commercial success. A critically acclaimed album, “Metallica” was regarded as the band’s best-selling and most popular work to date. It spawned such popular singles as “Enter Sandman”, “The Unforgiven”, and “Nothing Else Matters” and sold more than 30 million copies worldwide, which earned it a 16 time Platinum certification from the RIAA. Up to date, “Metallica” has released nine studio albums, the most recent being “Death Magnetic”, which came out in 2008. “Metallica’s” contributions to heavy metal genre, and the music industry in general, have been acknowledged with several Grammy Awards, American Music Awards, and Billboard Music Awards to name a few. A founding member of one of the most famous heavy metal bands in the industry, how rich is Lars Ulrich? According to sources, Lars Ulrich’s net worth is estimated to be $175 million. Lars Ulrich has accumulated most of his net worth and wealth due to his involvement with “Metallica”.
Lars Ulrich was born in 1963, in Gentofte, Denmark. At the age of 17, in 1980, Ulrich moved to America with the idea of playing tennis as his career choice. However, seeing as he had been influenced by “Deep Purple” ever since his childhood, Ulrich eventually decided to form his own band and so placed an advertisement in a newspaper, which stated that he was looking for people to start a band with. The advertisement was soon answered by Hetfield, with whom he founded “Metallica” in 1981. Over the years, Ulrich became known for his drum beats, which can be heard in such songs as “Metal Militia”, “Damage Inc.” and “Fight Fire with Fire”.
In addition to being a part of “Metallica”, Lars Ulrich managed to take part in other ventures. In 1998, he created a record label called “The Music Company”, yet it did not become prominent and was closed down in 2002. Ulrich also made an appearance in a film directed by Philip Kaufman entitled “Hemingway & Gellhorn”, as well as a rock comedy film with Jonah Hill, P. Diddy and Russell Brand “Get Him to the Greek”. A famous musician, Lars Ulrich has an estimated net worth of $175 million.

Lars Ulrich Quotes
- I’d be lying if I didn’t tell you I was disappointed. Human nature is that you’d rather win than lose, but Jethro Tull walking away with it makes a huge mockery of the intentions of the event. [on Metallica’s Grammy Award loss in 1989]
- We got to thank Jethro Tull for not putting out an album this year. (after Metallica won a 1992 Grammy award for “Best Metal Performance”, an honor which they lost to Jethro Tull in 1989).
- Our music comes from our hearts – and it always has.
- What’s the message in Metallica? There is no message, but if there was a message, it really should be look within yourself, don’t listen to me, don’t listen to James, don’t listen to anybody, look within yourself for the answers.
- I’m just sittin’ here trying not to be unhappy.
