Concerning her professional career, she debuted as an original member of “Saturday Night Live” (1975 – 1980) aired on the NBC. However, Newman wasn’t happy with working in the sketch comedy and variety show, so decided to try working in films. At first she created small and supporting roles in films including “Tunnel Vision” (1976) directed by Neal Israel and Bradley R. Swirnoff, “American Hot Wax” (1978) directed by Floyd Mutrux, “Wholly Moses” (1980) by Gary Weis, “Perfect” (1985) directed and produced by James Bridges, “Invaders from Mars” (1986) directed by Tobe Hooper among others during the ‘80s, meanwhile taking episodic roles in the television series “Laverne & Shirley” (1982) and “Alfred Hitchcock Presents” (1986) which started-off her net worth.

A significant success was voicing one of the main characters of the animated series “As Told by Ginger” (2000–2009) which was nominated for Emmy Awards three times. Simultaneously, she voiced other characters in animated Tv series “Oswald” (2001 – 2003), “The Fairly Odd Parents” (2001 – 2011), “Avatar: The Last Airbender” (2008), “Metalocalypse (2006–2012), “Jungle Junction (2009–2013), “Doc McStuffins (2012–2014) and many others.

The big screen was not an exception; Newman voiced lots of characters in popular animated films including “Monsters: (2001), “Shrek 2” (2004), “The Incredibles” (2004), “Shrek Forever After” (2010), “Toy Story” (2010), “Inside Out” (2015), “Minions” (2015), “The Secret Life of Pets” (2016) and many others.
