Kurt Loder Wiki Biography
Kurt Loder was born on 5 May 1945, in Ocean City, New Jersey, USA, and is an author, television personality, film critic, and columnist, best known for his legendary tenure with Rolling Stone magazine as editor. He’s also contributed to numerous other publications, and all of his endeavors have helped put his net worth to where it is today.
How rich is Kurt Loder? As of late-2016, sources estimate a net worth that is at $5 million, mostly earned through a successful career in writing. He’s also made numerous cameo appearances in both films and television series. He was previously drafted into the US Army, so all of these have ensured the position of his wealth.
Kurt attended Ocean City High School and matriculated in 1963. Afterwards, he went to college for two years but did not like it so he eventually went to the US Army, joining its journalism school. He served in the military for three years, and apparently learned journalism in a span of just four weeks. After his service, he lived in Europe for several years before returning to New Jersey in 1972, working at a local newspaper. He stayed there until 1976, when he was hired to be part of the weekly newspaper “Good Times”. During his time with that newspaper, he started becoming very involved in the music industry, going to events almost every night. Along with David Fricke, the two joined Circus magazine in 1978 and would move to Manhattan; he would eventually become one of the magazine’s editors and it focused on various trends, especially metal music. His net worth was well established.
The following year, he joined Rolling Stone magazine, and would stay there for a total of nine years. He became one of the most popular writers of the magazine, and helped co-author Tina Turner’s autobiography entitled “I, Tina”. He also contributed to the screenplay of the film “What’s Love Got to Do With It”. In 1987, he joined MTV for their music news program “The Week in Rock”, which would eventually become “MTV News”. He became the anchor and correspondent of the show, and the first to report the death of Kurt Cobain – the network had to stop regular programming to inform the public about the event.
Aside from his journalism work, Loder has appeared in various shows including “Kenan & Kel”, “The Simpsons”, “Saturday Night Live”, “South Park”, “Blair Witch 2” and “The Paper”. He has also won CableACE Awards for “News Special or Series” and “Variety Special or Series” in 1994. In 2011, a collection of his film reviews entitled “The Good, the Bad and the Godawul: 21st-Century Movie Reviews” was published.
For his personal life, Kurt has never married, and there is speculation that he is gay. It is known that Kurt identifies himself as a libertarian, and opposed the election of President George H. W. Bush in 1992. He also mentioned that new technology has not helped the cinematic or musical world to have the same success as the past, for example comparing modern bands with the Beatles. He also supports new media and copyright laws.
