Kirk Lee Hammett was born on 18^th November 1962, in San Francisco, California USA, of Filipino (mother) and part-Irish (father) descent. Kirk is a musician, and is no doubt best-known as the lead guitarist of Metallica, the band with which he has been performing since 1983. Besides being a rock start, he is also a songwriter and a writer: his first book was published in 2012.
