Kiran Chetry Wiki Biography
Born Kiran Carrie Chetry on the 26th August 1974 in Patan, Bagmati, Nepal, she is a retired journalist, best known to the world for her work on the Fox News Channel from 2001 until 2007, and for serving as CNN’s American Morning anchor in the period from 2007 until 2011.
Have you ever wondered how rich Kiran Chetry is, as of late 2017? According to authoritative sources, it has been estimated that Chetry’s net worth is as high as $700,000, an amount earned through her successful career, active from the mid- ‘90s until 2014.
Born in Nepal, her family moved to the USA when Kiran was seven months old. Her name means “ray of light” in the Sanskrit language; her father, Hom, is Hindu from the Middle Hills of Nepal, while her mother, Nancy, has Ukrainian, German and Dutch roots. The two met in Nepal during Nancy’s volunteering as a part of the Peace Corps. The Chetry family settled in Gaithersburg, Maryland, where Kiran went to Montgomery Blair High School. After matriculation, Kiran enrolled at the University of Maryland, College Park’s College of Journalism, and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in broadcast journalism.
Her career started in 1995 when she joined News 21 in Rockville, Maryland; she stayed there only for a year before she became a part of the WICU-TV in Erie, Pennsylvania, where she served as the main anchor, and health reporter. A year after she joined, her great work was recognized with the Best Enterprise Reporting award from the Pennsylvania Associated Press Broadcasters Association in 1997, for her reports regarding teen smoking, collected in the series “Young and Hooked”. Her net worth was now well set.
Two years later, she left WICU-TV and joined the KXTV in Sacramento, where she was the morning anchor and reporter. She stayed at KXTV for the next two years, before joining the cable news network Fox News Channel, primarily as a general reporter. Her role at the FNC rose steadily, and she became a rotating anchor for Fox News Live, while also anchoring the early morning news program Fox & Friends First, and being made regular co-host of the popular weekend morning news program Fox & Friends Weekend, which significantly increased her net worth.
Unfortunately, she left FNC due to disagreements between her agent and the network, as the two sides couldn’t reach agreement on the new contract for Kiran. However, before long Kiran found a new engagement; according to some reports, Kiran was offered a contract by CNN only an hour after she left FNC. Kiran started working for CNN as an anchor and correspondent on the 16th February 2007; that day she was co-host of the American Morning, while also anchored Anderson Cooper 360 in the evening of the same day. She became the co-anchor of the American Morning in April 2007 and served in the position until July 2011, her last appearance at CNN.
However, three years later, she co-anchored several late-night telecasts for CNN International, next to Errol Barnett.
Most recently, Kiran has been seen as infomercial presenter for Nutribullet.
Kiran is also recognized for her great looks, and was named America’s sexiest female anchor and the world’s second sexiest female anchor by Maxim magazine.
Regarding her personal life, Kiran was married to her colleague Chris Knowles with whom she has two children. The couple met in 1996 and divorced in 2005.
