Kevin Hooks Wiki Biography

Kevin Hooks was born on 19 September 1958, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania USA, and is an actor and director, probably best known for his roles in “Sounder” and “Aaron Loves Angela”. He’s also well-known for being a part of the television show “The White Shadow” playing Morris Thorpe. He’s been active in the industry since 1969, and all of his efforts have helped put his net worth to where it is today.

How rich is Kevin Hooks? As of mid-2017, sources inform us of a net worth that is at $5 million, mostly earned through a successful career in film and television. He’s made guest appearances in numerous television series, as well as appearing in a number of films. As he continues his career, it is expected that his wealth will also continue to increase.

Kevin’s father is actor and director Robert Hooks who appeared in many films during the 1970s. Kevin attended Potomac High School in Oxon Hill, Maryland. He started acting when he was 10 years old, becoming a part of the acclaimed episode of the “CBS Children’s Hour” which would win a Peabody Award; the episode was written by Jane Wagner, and entitled “J.T.” is about a Harlem youth who befriends a sick cat.

Hooks next major opportunity would be in the 1972 film “Sounder”, in which he played Paul Winfield’s character’s pre-teen elder son, needing to be the man of the family during the Depression – Paul along with Cicely Tyson would be nominated for Academy Awards for their performances. He then became a part of Gordon Parks Jr.’s last film “Aaron Loves Angela”, playing a withdrawn teenager, and partnered with Irene Cara. The film was praised locally, but was widely considered a failure. He then became a part of the high school basketball series “The White Shadow” which ran from 1978 to 1981, playing basketballer Morris Thorpe, and would find success, increasing his net worth significantly. In 1986, he then starred in “He’s the Mayor”, but which was short lived.

He started foraying into directing work in 1991 with the film “Strictly Business”. Thanks to the opportunity, he found more avenues to increase his net worth. He then directed “Passenger 57” which starred Wesley Snipes, and “Fled” which starred Laurence Fishburne. He also worked as the producer and director of the series “Prison Break”, directing a total of 13 episodes for the show. Next, during the first season of the show “Lost” he directed two episodes entitled “White Rabbit” and “Homecoming”, and then became a part of the television remake of the film “Sounder”, which he directed, following which in 2009, he worked on the film “Prison Break: The Final Break”.

One of his latest projects is the 2017 miniseries “Madiba”, which is about the life of the late Nelson Mandela, and stars Laurence Fishburne in the role of Mandela.

For his personal life, it is known that Kevin was married to Regina from 1978 to ’84, and has since been married to Cheryl, and they have two children. Kevin is often called “King Royal”, a nickname given to him by his friends.
