Kelly Brianne Clarkson was born on 24 April 1982, in Fort Worth, Texas USA, of British, Irish, German and Greek descent, and is a singer and songwriter well known all over the world, who became famous when she won the first season of ‘American Idol’ in 2002, and was named ‘The Original American Idol’.
So just how rich is Kelly Clarkson? Kelly’s net worth is estimated by sources at $29 million, accumulated from her singing and latterly acting careers over a period of little more than 12 years since what might be called her debut on “American Idol”.

Kelly’s mother, Ann Rose, worked as a first grade English teacher, whereas her father, Stephen Michael Clarkson, was an engineer. Kelly was educated at Burleson High School, where she performed in several musical productions, and was complemented on her voice and persuaded to try for a singing career. Despite several offers of scholarships at universities, she struck out on her own, producing demo tapes but not securing a satisfactory contract, and then moved to Los Angeles to try her luck. She appeared in several TV serials, including “Dharma and Greg” and “Sabrina the Teenage Witch”, however, circumstances obliged her to return to Burleson, where she auditioned for, and then appeared in “American Idol”, following which her net worth jumped significantly after she won, and released her first single ‘A Moment Like This’. Soon, it topped the Billboard Hot 100 and broke the record for the sharpest jump to first place in the chart’s history. It added to Clarkson’s net worth as it developed into the best-selling single of the year in US. The single was included into her debut album ‘Thankful’ in 2003, the critical response to which was very positive, as audiences loved it and the album was certified twice platinum and sold over four and a half million copies worldwide. Kelly received her first Grammy nomination for ‘Thankful’s’ leading single ‘Miss Independent’, which became an international hit and brought Kelly prominence and considerable growth to her net worth.
The follow up album ‘Breakaway’, a pop rock album with elements of rock and soul music, was released in 2004. It was even more successful, and added much to Kelly Clarkson net worth being six times platinum and selling over 15 million copies internationally, bringing two Grammy Awards. The third album ‘My December’ reflected deeper rock influences than the previous two, and was also very successful. Its leading single, ‘Never Again’, jumped into a top ten hit soon after release. The fourth studio album was called ‘All I Ever Wanted’; its leading single ‘My Life Would Suck without You’ broke the record, jumping to first place on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart in a single week from number 97; this record still belongs to Kelly. Her fifth album called ‘Stronger’ also increased Kelly’s net worth significantly after selling over five million copies internationally, and winning a Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Album. Clarkson set another record for being the first and only artist winning the award twice. Her sixth album ‘Wrapped in Red’, became the number one holiday album of the year.
As well as her career as a musician, Clarkson is increasing her net worth by appearing in movies on the big screen. She co-starred with Justin Guarini in the romantic comedy musical film ‘From Justin to Kelly’ directed by Robert Iscove in 2003. Moreover, she appeared in the serial TV drama ‘American Dreams’ created by Jonathan Prince.
Kelly Clarkson is now the winner of three Grammy Awards, three MTV Video Music Awards, twelve Billboard Music Awards, four American Music Awards, two Academy of Country Music Awards, two American Country Awards and a Women’s World Award. Of course her net worth has benefited accordingly and steadily over the years since 2002
In her personal life, Kelly Clarkson married Brandon Blackstock in 2013, and they have a daughter River Rose and a son Remington Alexander.

Kelly Clarkson Quotes
- [on talent shows] Theyll last as long as people keep watching them. People don’t realize that Frank Sinatra got into the business through a competition. I don’t think it matters how you got there. It matters if you’re good enough to hang around.
- Everyone gives you their two cents, but you have to follow your gut.
- [on her album ‘Wrapped in Red’] A Christmas album is fun because you don’t get labeled anything. So there’s rock’n’roll on there, there’s R&B. there’s country, there’s pop stuff. I have a hard time being cheesy, but you can be cheesy with Christmas music, so I felt I could be vulnerable.
- On fiancé Brandon Blackstock: “I’ve never been truly loved like I am right now”.
- [on taking criticism from the judges] I come from a very sarcastic and loving family at the same time, but I’m very thick-skinned. So, it’s really not going to affect me to an extent. I really feel for the people that it does.
- The rumors are not helping me on the dating front! I prefer the boys. I’m extremely flattered when I do get hit on by girls, and I think it’s hot, but I’m not into it. I like boys.
- I love my body. I’m very much OK with it. I don’t think artists are ever the ones who have the problem with their weight, it is other people.
- I’m an extremist, I’m either in a relationship or I’m not. I’m honest about it and I’ll tell people, it’s just there’s nothing to tell. I have a very good life.”
- I’m only 27, not 40 and still single! I enjoy being single, I love work and I think people are so passive with relationships and I’m not that person.
- I’m petite but I was the biggest girl on my season. Everyone else weighed 100 pounds. Reporters would ask, ‘So what’s it like being a big girl?’ and I thought, ‘Big? What?’ It was like, ‘Wait, what am I doing wrong?’ Luckily, I had a great mom and dad who helped me grow up feeling comfortable in my own skin. I have a curvy figure, which guys like. And performing isn’t about looking the best or being the most beautiful. I do it because I love it. Look, nobody else has my butt. Nobody has my eyes. Nobody has my nose. It’s all mine. And that’s what makes me different from everyone.
- On boys: “You need to establish yourself before you let someone else in I’m still finding myself”.
