Kate Linder Wiki Biography
Kate Linder was born on the 2nd November 1947 in Pasadena, California USA, and is an award- winning actress, best known to the world for her long-running role of Esther Valentine in the popular daytime soap opera series “The Young and the Restless” (1982-2017), and as Trudy Navis in the drama thriller film “Miss Meadows” (2014), among other appearances.
Have you ever wondered how rich Kate Linder is, as of mid- 2017? According to authoritative sources, it has been estimated that Linder’s net worth is as high as $3 million, earned through her successful career as an actress, which has been active since the early ‘70s.
Kate grew up in her hometown, and after high school enrolled at San Francisco University, from which she obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in theatre arts. During her college years, Kate became interested in being a flight attendant, and after training was hired by Transamerica Airlines. She continues to work as flight attendant until the present day, primarily for United Airlines.
After graduation, Kate started pursuing a career in the entertainment industry, and before she was cast as Esther Valentine, appeared in the sitcom, “Archie Bunker’s Place” (1979), which is a spin-off of the more popular TV series “All in the Family”.
Then in 1982 she was chosen for the role of Esther Valentine; although it was only a one-line role, she was called by the producers to return the next day, and after several years in a recurring part, Kate was promoted to being a lead character in 1985. Since her first day in the show, Kate has appeared in 2,136 episodes of the highest-rated daytime drama on American television. Working as a flight attendant stopped her from seeking new acting engagements, however, since the start of the 2000s, she became more active in the entertainment industry, and has portrayed several other characters, even making her film debut. In 2006 she was a cast member of the drama film “The Divorce Ceremony”, and in 2009 played Gloria Howard in the comedy adventure “The Gold & the Beautiful”, which also added to her wealth. Her roles were only minor appearances, but she wasn’t discouraged at all, in fact, she continued to search for film engagement and since 2010 has appeared in such films as the romantic comedy “Hysteria” (2011), action thriller “Erased” (2012), then comedy “Better Off Single” (2016), and the horror-thriller “The Charnel House” (2016). Furthermore, she has portrayed La Vecchia in the mystery drama “Voice from the Stone” (2017) starring Emilia Clarke and Marton Csokas, and will have her first lead role, in a thriller film “A Song for the Living”, which is yet to receive a release date.
Thanks to her work in the soap opera “The Young and the Restless”, Kate received a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2008, solely for her work on the show, becoming only the third actor after Susan Lucci and Jeanne Cooper, to receive only for their work in a soap opera.
Regarding her personal life, Kate was married to Ronald Linder, hence the last name Linder, from 1976 until Ronald’s death in 2017.
Kate is well-known for her philanthropic activities; she is a spokesperson for THE ALS Association, and also collaborates with Make-a-Wish Foundation, and also TV Cares, among many other organizations.
