Joseph Mulrey McIntyre Wiki Biography
Joseph Mulrey McIntyre was born on the 31st December 1972, in Needham, Massachusetts USA, of American and Irish descent. He is a musician, singer and songwriter, probably best recognized for being not only the youngest member of the band New Kids on the Block, but also a solo artist. He is also known as an actor, starring in the role of Colin Flynn in the TV series “Boston Public”, and as Gerard McCarthy in the TV series “The McCarthys”. His career has been active since 1985.
So, have you ever wondered how rich Joe McIntyre is, as of late 2017? According to authoritative sources, it has been estimated that the total size of Joe’s net worth is over $19 million, accumulated through his successful involvement in the entertainment industry.
Joe McIntyre spent his childhood in a Catholic family, the youngest of nine children of Thomas McIntyre, who was a union official, and his wife Katherine, who was an actress in the theater; his older sister Judith McIntyre is also known as an actress. He went to Catholic Memorial High School, a private school in West Roxbury, Massachusetts, from which he matriculated in 1990.
His career in the music industry began at the age of 13, when he became a member of the boy band called New Kids on the Block, replacing Mark Wahlberg. In no time, the band released two studio albums which topped the US Billboard charts – “Hangin’ Tough” (1988) and “Step By Step” (1990) – both of which added a considerable amount to Joe’s net worth. Soon, they became one of the highest paid boy bands in the 20th century, but they disbanded in 1994.
Nevertheless, Joe continued to pursue his career in the music industry as a solo artist. He released his debut studio album “Stay The Same” in 1998 through his own website, as he didn’t have any contract with a record label. In no time that changed, and he signed a recording contract with Sony Music USA, which re-released his album in 1999 and sold more than a million copies worldwide, contributing a lot to his net worth. The hit single with the same title peaked at No. 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. In 2001, out came his second studio album “Meet Joe Mac”, but didn’t reach any major success. Afterwards, he released the album “8:09” in 2004, which peaked at No. 50 on the US Independent Chart, and two more albums – “Here We Go Again” (2009), and “Come Home For Christmas” (2011).
In 2008, the band New Kids on the Block reunited, and later that year released the studio album “The Block”, which peaked at No. 2 in the US and topped the Canadian chart, which increased Joe’s net worth by a large margin. Three years later, they began a tour alongside Backstreet Boys, followed by their first album in the next decade in 2011, entitled “NKOTBSB”, after which they released “10 (New Kids on the Block album)” in 2013. Most recently, they released the studio album entitled “Thankful” in 2017, and so Joe’s net worth is certainly rising.
Apart from his career as a musician, Joe is also known as an actor, making his debut appearance in the role of Matt Hucklebee in the 1995 film “The Fantasticks”. In 2002, he was chosen to portray Colin Flynn in the TV series “Boston Public”, which lasted for a season, and was followed by his starring in the title role in the film “Tony ‘n’ Tina’s Wedding” (2004). Afterwards, he made several guest-starring appearances until he won the role of Jack O’Toole in the film entitled “On Broadway” in 2007. To speak further about his acting career, he also starred as Heath in the TV series “The Hotwives Of Orlando” (2014) and as Gerard McCarthy in another TV series entitled “The McCarthys” (2014-2015). Currently he appears in the role of Joey in the TV series “Return Of The Mac” (2017), which will certainly increase his fortune.
Speaking about his personal life, Joe McIntyre has been married to Barrett Williams since 2003; the couple has three children together, and their current residence is in Los Angeles, California.

Joseph Mulrey McIntyre Quotes
- [on what it was like being reunited in Wicked with Joel Grey who played his father-in-law in The Fantasticks (1995)] “It was my first movie, and he was such a pro. I remember being able to go to his trailer and chat about anything. I was 21 and blabbing about what I wanted to do, and he said everything would work out.”
- [on fame and Hollywood] “If you’re going to have a chip on your shoulder in this business, you’ll have no shoulders left at the end of the day.”
- [on gay marriage] “I support gay marriage. I don’t see the big deal. It’s really ridiculous. My mother raised me Catholic, and I think the teachings of Jesus Christ have made me a caring person. And in my family, we have blacks, Jews and gays. I was brought up to follow what Jesus said: Love your neighbor, period.”
- [on his audition for the New Kids] “I tried out on Father’s Day, June 15, 1985. Mary picked me up and I was really scared. I went to Maurice’s (Starr) house and tried out. I sang one of the songs the group was about to record and afterwards we got in the car and Mary asked me, ‘Well, do you want to be in the group? You’ve got the part.’ And I said, ‘Yeah, here I am,’ and we recorded the songs.”
- [on dating; 1991] “I like steady relationships. By that I mean relationships that are balanced, where the guy isn’t superior to the girl, where two people share everything. My perfect date would include a romantic dinner just for two, then maybe afterward we’d go to the theatre and see a play or a movie. Then after that, we would go for a walk. Yeah! Especially if it were on an autumn night in Boston. I love fall! I’d be all cozy in my jacket, and my date and I would walk hand-in-hand by the Charles River in Boston.”
