Joseph Glenn Herbert was born on the 2nd June 1971, in Tacoma, Washington USA, of part-Filipino descent. As Jo Koy, he is a stand-up comedian, performing in clubs across the US, and is also a panelist on E!’s “Chelsea Lately” show, and often appears on “The Adam Carolla Show” as a semi-regular. The performances in the clubs and on television helped him increasing his net worth, since his career started in 1994.

Jo Koy is the son of a European-American father who was in the US Air Force, and a Filipino mother. Koy went to Spanaway Lake High School before switched it for Foss High School in Tacoma. He studied at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, but quit to pursue his career as a stand-up comedian.Las Vegas was his first step, where he started working at a comedy club in 1994. Koy was a regular on the open-mic at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino, in the show called Catch a Rising Star. He was spotted by an agent while performing in Las Vegas, and was offered a job on BET’s Comic View, and Koy worked there for two seasons in the mid-90’s. During the late 90’s and the early 2000’s, Koy appeared in numerous TV specials such as “Jamie Foxx Presents: Laffapalooza!”, The Montreal comedy festival “Just For Laughs”, but his most notable appearance was in 2005 when he was on the “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno”. In the later part of the 2000’s, Koy was a recognized face in the industry, and started earning a significant amount of money.
Koy established “The Joy Koy Foundation” in 2009, and hosted a philanthropic event named “Hilarity For Charity” that same year, for whichthe actor Jon Lovitz rented him The Jon Lovitz Comedy Club in Universal City, California. All the money from tickets went to The Children’s Hospital of Orange County. Koy is remembered working on the podcast of the renowned comedian and TV host Michael Yo in 2012; the name of the show was The Michael Yo and Jo Koy Show. He is still a regular guest commentator on the “E!’s Chelsea Lately” show.
