José Pedro Balmaceda Pascal Wiki Biography
Born as José Pedro Balmaceda Pascal on the 2nd April 1975 in Santiago, Chile, he is an award-winning actor, best known to the world as Oberyn Martell in the TV series “Game of Thrones” (2014), and as Javier Peña in the TV series “Narcos” (2015-2017), among other differing appearances.
Have you ever wondered how rich Pedro Pascal is, as of late 2017? According to authoritative sources, it has been estimated that Pascal’s net worth is as high as $2 million, an amount earned through his successful career in the world of entertainment, active since the mid- ‘90s.
Pedro is Chilean, but his parents migrated to the USA several years after the fall of Salvador Allende, as they were his supporters. After settling in San Antonio, Texas, Pedro started swimming training and participated in several competitive events, but after he experienced acting, he quit swimming and fully focused on what was to become his career. He went to Orange County School of the Arts, and after matriculation enrolled at the New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts.
Before making his screen debut, Pedro worked in New York as a waiter, and then jumped into theater acting, earning a name for himself in several productions, which helped perfect his acting talents and lay the basis to his net worth.
His acting debut came in 1996 with the role of Alex in the short film “Burning Bridges”, but it wasn’t until 2009 that he made a significant appearance, meantime making several one-time appearances in such TV series as “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” (1999), “Touched by an Angel” (2000), and “Law & Order” (2008). In 2009 he was chosen for the role of Nathan Landry in the TV series “The Good Wife”, and in two years featured in six episodes of the show, which helped increase his wealth.
In 2011 he portrayed Paulino in the adventure comedy film “Sweet Little Lies”, next to Caitlin Kinnunen, Joseph Montes and Bill Sage, and later was cast as Juan Badillo in the TV series “Graceland” (2013-2014), but his character was killed off after only 10 episodes. Nevertheless, this turned out to be great for Pedro, as he was given the role of Prince Oberyn Martell in the highly-acclaimed TV fantasy drama “Game of Thrones”. This appearance garnered wider attention, and subsequently Pedro was soon cast in the new series “Narcos”, as Javier Peña. So far, he has appeared in 30 episodes of the Golden Globe Award-nominated series, which has certainly helped increase his net worth.
He has also made several notable appearances on film, including the role of Max in the horror comedy “Bloodsucking Bastards” (2015), then Tovar in the action fantasy “The Great Wall” (2016), next to Matt Damon, Tian Jing and Willem Dafoe, and also appeared in the action comedy film “Kingsman: The Golden Circle” (2017), starring Taron Egerton, Colin Firth and Mark Strong, showing his overall versatility.
Regarding his personal life, Pedro has a younger brother, Lucas Balmaceda, who is also an actor but is focused on Chilean productions. When it comes to his love life, Pedro has been connected to his Game of Thrones co-star Lena Headey, but the two haven’t admitted to being boy- and girl-friend. He was previously in a relationship with actress Maria Dizzia, however, according to sources, he is still single.

José Pedro Balmaceda Pascal Quotes
- My family is Chilean, and I was born there. By the time I was four, we were living in San Antonio, Texas, and I just remember picking a blue bonnet and getting yelled at by some guy with a sheriff hat and a badge. I was traumatized. He told me it was the state flower, and I wasn’t supposed to be messin’ with it.
- The acting training in school was great, but it was mostly fun being young and in New York. Because my upbringing was so transient, New York ended up being my home. I’ve been living in New York longer than I have anywhere else in my life.
- The only thing that being killed off on ‘Graceland’ helped me with on ‘Game of Thrones’ is that it made me available to actually do the job.
- I am such a ‘True Detective’ fan. I was anticipating it each Sunday as it came. I’m kind of a sci-fi fan. I was really hooked on the ‘Battlestar Galactica’ series. I think I owned every box set of ‘Battlestar Galactica.’ I also really love ‘Bob’s Burgers.’
- I have really fond memories of Texas. By the time I was eight, we started to go back to Chile very regularly, and many family members came to visit us because we couldn’t go visit them.
- I have the cliché ‘struggling actor’ story. I was waiting tables in New York, went out to L.A. soon after graduation to get some jobs, but it didn’t work out. I wanted to cut my teeth in professional theater, so I came back to New York. It made my journey a longer one, but I really wanted to excel in the theater.
- I just went to your typical public schools, and my dad would take us to the movies every week, or he’d buy scalped tickets to San Antonio Spurs games. I remember I was four or five years old and my parents, who were very young, took us to see The Police in Austin, and Iggy Pop opened.
