Jon Kelly Kitna Wiki Biography

Jon Kelly Kitna was born on 21 September 1972, in Tacoma, Washington USA, and is a retired professional American Football player, and now football coach, known for having played in the National Football League (NFL) for several teams including the Seattle Seahawks, but also leading Barcelona to the European World Bowl championship. All his efforts have helped put his net worth to where it is today.

How rich is Jon Kitna? As of early-2017, sources estimate a net worth that is at $12 million, mostly earned through a successful career in professional football. He also played with teams such as the Cincinnati Bengals, Detroit Lions, and Dallas Cowboys during a playing career spanning 17 years. As he continues his endeavors in coaching, it is expected that his wealth will also continue to increase.

Jon attended Lincoln High School, where he lettered in football. After matriculating, he attended Central Washington University without an athletic scholarship, but became the starting quarterback during his first year playing for the Wildcats, and reaching the NAIA Football National Championship, finishing his college career with 911 of 1550 completions in 43 games.

He graduated with a degree in math education, and began to apply for high school coaching jobs. He was then discovered by Seattle Seahawks head coach Dennis Erickson who would then sign him as an undrafted free agent in 1996. He became part of the practice squad and was then sent to NFL Europe after his rookie season. He started to shine there and became the MVP of the 1997 Championship Game, leading the Barcelona Dragons to World Bowl V defeating Rhein Fire. Two years later, he would become a starter for the Seahawks, and would help the team win the AFC West. They would, however, lose in the wild card game.

In 2001, Kitna signed with the Cincinnati Bengals as an unrestricted free agent. He became the starter for the team, and two years later would become the NFL Comeback Player of the Year. During that season he led the Bengals to their first non-losing season since 1996 (8-8). He was also responsible for training the young Carson Palmer for an eventual starter role. In 2006, Jon then signed with the Detroit Lions and became the second quarterback in franchise history to pass for 4,000 yards in one season. Three years later, he was traded to the Dallas Cowboys, but during his time with the Cowboys he was idle and played few games, as a back injury also held him back, and actually forced his retirement in 2012, though he played one game in 2013, donating his salary to the Lincoln High School Booster Club.

After retiring, Kitna became a math teacher and head football coach at Lincoln High School, helping the team to a Washington Interscholastic Activities Association District 3A Narrows championship. In 2014, they would win another championship. The following year, he resigned from his job and accepted a head coaching job at Waxahachie High School.

For his personal life, it is known that Jon has been married to Jeni since 1994, and they have four children. He is a Christian, to which he was converted while attending Central Washington University. His son Jordan has also pursued playing football.
