John Stamos Wiki Biography

John Phillip Stamos was born on 19 August 1963, in Cypress, California USA, of part-Greek descent through his father Bill; his mother Loretta is American. John is a  film and television producer, musician, songwriter, as well as an actor, perhaps best known for portraying the character of Jesse Katsopolis in the popular sitcom created by Jeff Franklin entitled “Full House”.

So just how rich is John Stamos, as of late 2017? According to sources, John Stamos’ net worth is estimated to be over $40 million, mostly accumulated from his acting career which began in the early 1980s.

John Stamos  studied at the John F. Kennedy High School, but during his teenage years worked for his father as well. However, his parents supported his music and acting ambitions, and Stamos debuted on television screens in 1982 in “General Hospital”, a medical drama that had first aired on screens in 1963. For his role of Blackie Parrish, John Stamos received a Daytime Emmy Award nomination. Prior to his big breakthrough, he also starred in a television series entitled “Dreams”, as well as a situation comedy called “You Again?”, and sometimes performed with the rock band  “The Beach Boys”, even appearing in the film called “The Beach Boys: An American Family”, which was directed by Jeff Bleckner.

John’s breakthrough came in 1987, when with  Bob Saget, Dave Coulier and Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen portrayed other main characters of the series, “Full House” first aired on television screens, and finished its eight season run in 1995. An award-winning series, “Full House” inspired the release of several books based on the show, such as “Full House Stephanie” and “Full House Michelle”, and sparked rumors about the reboot of the series in 2014. Undoubtedly, the show made significant contributions to the fame of its main stars, especially John Stamos, who was able to launch a successful acting career afterwards.

Even though John Stamos is perhaps best known for his appearance in “Full House”, he rose to prominence again in 2005, when he joined the cast of the popular medical drama series called “ER”, and a year later became a regular star on the show, alongside Anthony Edwards, George Clooney, Noah Wyle and Gloria Reuben. A winner of 23 Emmy Awards, “ER” is considered to be among the most outstanding medical drama series in the history of television, which also inspired many foreign adaptations, and the release of the “ER” video game and a book.

In addition, John Stamos has made appearances in “The Larry Sanders Show” – a popular sitcom starring Garry Shandling and Jeffrey Tambor – “Match Made in Heaven” with Olympia Dukakis and Kelly Rowan, an episode of “Friends” created by David Crane and Marta Kauffman, as well as the comedy series called “Jake in Progress”, in which he portrayed the main character Jake Phillips. More recently John filmed the comedy-drama series entitled “Members Only”, which aired during  2014-2015, and “Grandfathered” in 2016, among other guest performances.

Stamos’ contributions to the film industry have been acknowledged with a Soapy Award as well as Young Artist Award for “General Hospital”, and People’s Choice Award for “Grandfathered”.

In his personal life, John was married to model Rebecca Romijn from 1998 until 2005, and has been engaged to Caitlin McHugh since October 2017; they are expecting their first child. They currently reside in Los Angeles.

John Stamos Quotes

  • I always knock around the idea of a reunion, whether that’s a new TV show or a movie or something else. I keep an open mind about it. I think getting everyone back together would be the tricky part about that. A remake I think is more realistic. Get some new actors, update the characters, make it more modern. I’d like to be involved with it creatively if there ever was a realistic chance of it being made.
  • I was so young when I started on Full House (1987). I started on the show at age 25 and when the show ended, I was only 33. People that age these days look like kids. It’s hard to believe “Uncle Jesse” was pretty much a kid on that show.
  • I grew up with sisters, which was fun. Being outnumbered, they always got their way. However, they are great judges of character. If I bring home a new girlfriend, I can tell within minutes if they approve or not. It’s saved me from many painful relationships, so I will always appreciate them for that.
  • This is an old family secret, and I just found this out recently, and it almost broke my heart. My mother said to me, “I had never told you this, but God, you were an ugly baby”.
  • [on starring in Full House (1987)] The whole time I was on it, I wished I was on another show, I’m not gonna lie to you. But I look back on it fondly, and I’m proud of it. Was it Seinfeld (1989), Friends (1994), Mary Tyler Moore (1970)? No. Was it a heartwarming show you could watch with your kids? Yes. And there’s nothing wrong with that.
  • Mary-Kate [Mary-Kate Olsen] and Ashley [Ashley Olsen], who played Michelle, were great. I miss them, I love them, and I need to borrow some money from them.
