According to authoritative sources, it has been estimated that O’Hurley’s net worth is as high as $8.5 million, earned through his successful acting career. In addition to appearing on screen, O’Hurley has also published three books, sales of which have also improved his wealth.
John O’Hurley was born to John O’Hurley, an ear, nose, and throat surgeon, and Jean, a housewife. John has younger twin brothers, Bruce and Neal, while his older sister Carol died in 1970 due to epileptic seizures as the age of 17. He went to Kingswood-Oxford School in West Hartford, Connecticut, and later studied at Providence College, from where he graduated in 1976 with BA degree in Theatre.
O’Hurley had his television debut in the TV series “General Hospital” in 1963 in a minor role, but he waited for ten more years before appearing in “The Young and the Restless”, and later in “Loving” in 1983. In 1988, O’Hurley played Remar in the mini-series called “Something Is Out There”, and in 1989 he was cast in “Billy the Kid” starring Val Kilmer. From 1990 to 1991, John played Stephen Slade in 75 episodes of “Santa Barbara”, which only increased his net worth, before he had parts in “White Hot: The Mysterious Murder of Thelma Todd” (1991) and “Night Eyes II” (1991).
In 1992, O’Hurley appeared in “Mirror Images”, “Seduction: Three Tales from the ‘Inner Sanctum’”, and in two episodes of “Baywatch”. In the mid-90’s, John played in TV series such as “Valley of the Dolls” (1994), “A Whole New Ballgame” (1995), “Over the Top” (1997), and “Seinfeld” (1995-1998). With the new millennium, O’Hurley`s career began to decline, and he mainly appeared in B-production movies such as “Firetrap” (2001), “Race to Space” (2001), “Buying the Cow” (2002), “Knuckle Sandwich” (2004), and “An American Carol” (2008). However, after fans alleged that Monaco’s victory was a set-up, O’Hurley and Jørgensen were re-instated and won, earning $126,000, adding a significant amount to his net worth.
