John Fisher Wiki Biography
John J. Fisher was born on the 1st June 1961, in San Francisco, California, USA, and is a businessman and investor, probably best recognized for being the President of Pisces, Inc. He is also known as the majority owner of the Oakland Athletics in the Major League Baseball (MLB). John is also the heir to his parents’ Gap clothing store empire. His career has been active since the mid-1980s.
So, have you ever wondered how rich John Fisher is, as of mid-2017? According to authoritative sources, it has been estimated that John counts his net worth at the impressive amount of $2.8 billion accumulated through his successful involvement in the business industry. Another source is coming from his involvement in the sports industry.
John Fisher hails from a famous Jewish family, as the youngest son of Donald Fisher, who was known as a businessman and founder of The Gap clothing stores, and Doris Feigenbaum; his two older brothers are William S. Fisher and Robert J. Fisher, both also well-known as businessmen and investors. John went to Phillips Exeter Academy, after which he enrolled at Princeton University, graduating with a BA degree in 1983. Later, he continued his education at Stanford University School of Business, from which he graduated with his MA degree in Business Administration.
Right after graduation John started to pursue his career in business, but one of his first jobs was in the mailroom at the Republican National Committee, which marked the beginning of his net worth. Parallel with that, he also worked as a fund raiser for President Ronald Reagan and then future president Vice-President George H.W. Bush.
In no time, John got a job at a real estate company, which collaborated with The Gap; however, he did not achieve any major success, so he quit that, and began working in the position of president of the family’s investment and management company called Pisces, Inc., which added a considerable amount to his net worth. Moreover, he then decided to establish his own company called Sansome Partners, LLC. in 1997.
Afterwards, John and Lewis Wolff became friends and bought several Fairmont hotels in San Francisco. This enabled him to invest in the sports industry, so he became the owner of one of the Major League Baseball (MLB)’s teams – the Oakland Athletics, after which he also bought some shares in the Major League Soccer’s team – the San Jose Earthquakes, as well as Scotland’s Glasgow Celtic soccer club, all of which increased his net worth.
When it comes to speak about his personal life, John Fisher is married to Laura Meier Fisher; the couple has no children. His residence is still in San Francisco, California. In his spare time, John collaborates with various charitable organizations, including the Fisher Fund, the KIPP (Knowledge is Power Program) Foundation, in which he served as the Chairman, the Charter School Growth Fund, the City Fields Foundation, the Silicon Schools Fund, among others.
