Joey Votto Wiki Biography
Joseph Daniel Votto was born on the 10th September 1983, in Toronto, Ontario Canada, and is a professional baseball first baseman, who currently plays for the Cincinnati Reds in Major League Baseball (MLB). Joey’s career started in 2007.
Have you ever wondered how rich Joey Votto is, as of early 2017? According to authoritative sources, it has been estimated that Votto’s net worth is as high as $110 million, an amount earned through his successful career as a baseball player now spanning 10 years.
Joey is one of four children born to Wendy and Joseph Votto, and is of Italian ancestry. He spent his childhood days in Etobicoke, and went to Richview Collegiate Institute, where he played basketball and hockey as well as baseball. After matriculating, he enrolled at Coastal Carolina University, however, he was selected right out of high school by the Cincinnati Reds in the amateur draft of 2002, and as normal in professional baseball, started climbing his way up through the minor leagues. Five years later, he made his debut for the Reds against the New York Mets, and struck out Guillermo Mota. In his rookie season, Joey had a .321 batting average, four home runs and 17 runs batted in (RBI).
In the second season, Joey posted some incredible performances and led the NL Rookies in every category, but lost the Rookie of the Year award to Goevany Soto of the Chicago Cubs. However, Joey was steadily becoming one of the Reds best players, and in 2008 he broke the Reds’ record for the most runs batted in by a rookie in a season. From 2010, Joey’s dominance began to matter, and he won numerous awards for his impressive performances. From 2010 to 2013 he featured in the All-Star game, and in 2010 he was named NL MVP, won the NL Hank Aron Award, Lou Marsh Trophy and his first of six Tip O’Neill Awards, which he won again in 2011, 2012, 2013, 2015 and 2016. Another feat was a 10 double-hit streak in five games in 2009, not accomplished for 77 years.
In 2011 he was the recipient of the Gold Glove Award, too, and in order to show him how valuable a player Joey was for the Reds, the front office offered him a contract worth $225 over 10 years in 2012, as an extension to his old contract that would already last until 2014. Overall, his contract is worth $251 million over 12 years, which has only increased his potential net worth by a large margin.
Regarding his personal life, Joey has been in a relationship with Jeanne Paulus since 2008 until the present, but the couple remains unmarried.
Interestingly, Joey has a mastiff-golden retriever dog, whose name is Maris, after former baseball player Roger Maris.
