Joseph Edward Penny Jr. was born on 24 June 1956, in London, England, of Italian and American descent. Joe is an actor, best known for his work in the television series “Riptide” in which he played Nick Ryder for three years. He was also part of the show “Jake and the Fatman” which ran from 1987 to 1992. He’s been active in the industry since 1977, and all of his efforts have helped put his net worth to where it is today.
How rich is Joe Penny? As of late-2017, sources estimate a net worth that is at $500,000, mostly earned through a successful career in acting. As he continues his career, it is expected that his wealth will also continue to increase.
Joe grew up in Marietta, Georgia, and after his parents divorced, he moved to California with his mother. He attended Marina High School and during his time there, played both basketball and football.
In 1977, Penny started his acting career with a small role in “Forever Fernwood” which was a rebranding of “Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman” and which followed her family and friends; most of the cast from the previous show remained intact, but it ended after running for 26 weeks. More opportunities opened for Penny, which started to increase his net worth. He got more roles in television series as well as television films, including a major role in “Riptide” which is a detective series that debuted as a two hour television movie; it went on to run for a total of 56 episodes, after which he became the titular character in “Jake and the Fatman”, a crime drama that ran for five seasons, and was responsible for creating the spin-off “Diagnosis: Murder” which would go on to become highly popular.
Joe has also made guest appearances in various television shows and this continued to build his net worth. Some of his projects have included “Vega$”, “Touched by an Angel” and “The Sopranos”, as well as parts in “Walker, Texas Ranger”, “7th HeaveN”, and “CSI”. In 2005, he became part of the mystery series “Jane Doe” which aired on the Hallmark Channel, starring alongside Lea Thompson. The series was done in a television film style and was a part of a movie series rotation including “Mystery Woman”, “Murder 101” and “McBride”. For most of his work, he’s portrayed either a detective, cop or mobster, but his net worth continues to rise.
A few of Penny’s recent projects include a recurring role in “Cold Case”, and he was also part of the 2016 film entitled “The Last Night Inn”.
For his personal life, Joe has been married to Penny since 2004. It is known that Joe was very shy during his teenage years, so much so that he avoided every student picture day until he matriculated from Marina High School. He was also never involved in any extracurricular activities, and his yearbook lists him as “Missing in Action”.
