Joe Logan Diffie Wiki Biography

Joe Logan Diffie was born on 28 December 1958, in Tulsa, Oklahoma USA, and is a country music singer/songwriter, probably best known for his five number one hits: “Home”, “If the Devil Danced (In Empty Pockets)”, “Third Rock from the Sun”, “Pickup Man” and “Bigger Than the Beatles”.

A noted singer-songwriter, how rich is Joe Diffie? Sources state that Diffie has earned a net worth over $36 million, as of early 2017. His wealth has been accumulated during his music career which began in the late 1980s.

Diffie was raised in a musical family, with his father playing guitar and banjo and his mother being a singer. His career in music started when he was only four years old, performing in his aunt’s country music band. He attended Cameron University in Lawton, Oklahoma, but eventually left college and took several jobs, such as working in oil fields and later in a foundry.

Around this time, Diffie became a member of Higher Purpose, a gospel group, and later joined Special Edition – a bluegrass band – and opened his own recording studio. However, due to financial troubles, he was forced to sell the studio, moving to Nashville, Tennessee in 1986, where he began working at the Gibson Guitar Corporation. It was here that his music career finally took off. After releasing several demos, he signed with Epic Records in 1990, releasing his debut album “A Thousand Winding Roads”. Its singles “Home” and “If the Devil Danced (In Empty Pockets)” went all the way to #1 on the country charts, enabling Diffie to gain great popularity, plus his net worth began to grow.

His fourth album, the 1994 “Third Rock from the Sun” scored two more number one hits with the title track and the song “Pickup Man”. His fifth and final number one single came with the song “Bigger Than the Beatles”, from his fifth album “Life’s So Funny”, and he went on to record two more albums under the label. Achieving such success with his music enabled Diffie to reach a high level of fame, and to gather a fan base that spans the globe. All these triumphs contributed to the growth of his net worth as well.

In 2001 Diffie signed with Monument Records and released the album “In Another World”, with the title track reaching #10 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks. Two years later he signed with the independent Broken Bow Records, but released only one album for this label, the 2004 “Tougher Than Nails”.

Following his departure with Broken Bow, Diffie went on with touring and performing at smaller venues and county fairs. He released a live album in 2008, after which he signed with Rounder Records, releasing the album “Homecoming: The Bluegrass Album” in 2010, followed by “All in the Same Boat”, a collaboration with Aaron Tippin and Sammy Kershaw, his final studio album.

In addition to his five number one hits, Diffie has also recorded another 12 top ten singles and 10 top 40 hits, proof of an astonishing career. Aside from being a talented singer, he has also been a renowned songwriter, who has written hits for artists such as Tim McGraw, Conway Twitty and Jo Dee Messina, to name a few. All this has enabled him to amass a sizable fortune.

In his personal life, Diffie has been married three times, firstly to Janise Parker in 1982 while still at college; he has two children from this marriage. After their divorce in 1986, he married Debbie Jones in 1988, with whom he also has two children; they divorced in 1996. As of 2000, Diffie has been married to Theresa Crump, with whom he has one child.

The singer is involved in philanthropy. He held charity concert tournament during the ’90s and early 2000s, to support a non-profit organization for the education of mentally and physically impaired children called First Steps.
