James Beeland Rogers Jr., commonly known as Jim Rogers, is a famous American investor, author, as well as a businessman. Some of Jim Rogers’ business ventures include the “Holdings and Beeland Inc.” company, a privately owned “Quantum Group of Funds”, which relies on a number of investors, as well as “Rogers International Commodities Index”, often referred to as “RICI”. The latter index was established by Rogers in 1996, and began the fund tracking in 1998. “RICI” is an umbrella index, which is divided into several groups, namely “RICI Agriculture”, “RICI Energy” and “RICI Metals”, which are responsible for the contribution to agriculture, energy and metals respectively.

Jim Rogers was born in 1942, in Baltimore, Maryland, but he was raised in Alabama. Rogers began his studies at Yale University, where he graduated with a degree in history, and later continued his studies at the University of Oxford, from which he graduated with a degree in philosophy, economics and politics. Shortly after graduating from university, Jim Rogers went on to work at “Dominick & Dominick” company, the oldest financial institution in the United States, which provided services related to private wealth management, institutional sales and investment banking. Prior to establishing “RICI” and “Quantum Fund”, Rogers worked at “Arnhold and S. Bleichroder”, which was a popular investment bank at the time, where he met the business magnate and investor George Soros. It was with Soros that Rogers decided to leave his job at the bank, and created the “Quantum Fund” instead.
Soon afterwards, Rogers took a break from work and focused on travels around the world, which he did on his motorcycle. When he returned, Jim Rogers took up a job of a moderator for “The Dreyfus Roundtable”, and even had his own program entitled “The Profit Motive with Jim Rogers”. In addition to this, Rogers started making other on-screen appearances, and became a regular on the business analysis program called “Cavuto on Business” with Neil Cavuto. Almost a decade after the premiere of the show, Rogers established a well-known index called “Rogers International Commodity Index”. More recently, in 2011 Rogers established another index, this time under the name of “The Rogers Global Resources Equity Index”. Currently, Rogers bases himself in the finance centre of Singapore.
