Jim Norton Wiki Biography
James Joseph ‘Jim’ Norton was born on 19 July 1968, in Bayonne, New Jersey USA, and is a comedian as well as an author, who started a career in comedy in the early ’90s, and since then has appeared in many popular shows. Jim Norton has also published two books, the first of which reached number seven on the bestseller list, while his second one reached number 13. Of course, these literary achievements added a great deal to the total of Jim Norton’s net worth.
So just how rich is Jim Norton? Sources estimate that Jim’s net worth is $5 million, which wealth he has earned from his longtime job as a stand up comedian, actor, radio host and television personality as well as a writer.
Jim Norton’s teenage years’ experiences contrast sharply with his career as a comedian. Norton’s father worked at the post and at some point for the military, while his mother was a librarian. It is known that Jim dropped-out of high school and also attempted suicide once, which obviously failed, and at the age of 17 after spending some time at a rehab center he returned to school.
Jim Norton began his career as a stand up comedian in 1990, but only really became famous in 2000 through his new job on the radio. It was a program called “The Opie and Anthony Show” on Satellite Radio Provider SiriusXM, on which Jim Norton worked as one of the regular hosts. Soon after he began working there Norton got himself involved in a scandal and was even arrested over an incident when the show was broadcast in a bus driving through Manhattan, and full of half naked women. Several other scandals involving the aforementioned show and Jim Norton followed during the decade. Still, his net worth was rising.
Jim Norton also works on television, and his appearances on a variety of TV shows add a lot to his net worth. From 2002 to 2004 Norton was seen on Comedy Central’s show called “Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn“. Jim has also appeared as himself on “Jimmy Kimmel Live”, “The Late Show with David Letterman“, “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno“, and “The Gong Show with Dave Attell” in which he appeared as one of the judges on several episodes. In 2005, Norton was featured on the first of the HBO stand-up special series called “One Night Stand”, the second of which came out in 2007 and also included Jim. In 2006 he showed himself as an actor with his role in the TV series “Lucky Louie”. Adding more to his net worth, Jim Norton has also made several cameo appearances as himself in “Zack and Miri Make a Porno”, “Spider-Man” and others.
Jim also became a writer who has published two successful books. His first book was called “Happy Endings: The Tales of a Meaty-Breasted Zilch” and it came out in 2007; this autobiographical book consists of short stories from Jim’s early life, and was in the top five of the New York Times Best Seller list in its category. On the day of its release the book also entered Amazon’s top 10. Jim Norton’s second book named “I Hate Your Guts” enjoyed similar success.
In his personal life, Jim Norton has never married, but jokes continually about the amount of money he (supposedly) spends on prostitutes.
