Jermaine Dyer Wiki Biography
Jermaine Trevell Dye was born on 28 January 1974, in Oakland, California USA, into a sports-oriented family, and is a former professional baseball player, known for playing on several baseball teams in the mid-‘90s and early 2000s. At the peak of his career, he achieved many awards, gaining a lot of fame amongst baseball fans.
So just how rich is this major leaguer? Authoritative sources estimate that Jermaine Dye’s net worth as of mid-2017 is as high as $30 million, accumulated largely from 15 years of being a professional baseball player.
Dye grew up in San Pablo, also in the ‘’Bay Area’’, and attended Will C. Wood High School in Vacaville where he was active in football, baseball and basketball. His talent for sports was breaking the school’s records, but later on, he chose to pursue his baseball career. After matriculating from high school, he attended Cosumnes River College in Sacramento.
Jermaine made a debut in his baseball career when he was selected by the Atlanta Braves in 1993 amateur, making his debut in 1996 with a home run. However, his career was developing at a fast pace, and he was traded to the Kansas City Royals shortly after the 1996 season.
Jermaine played 158 games for this team, scoring notable results on the field, and in 1998 he made the American League All-Star Team. In 2001 he became a part of the Oakland Athletics, and kept that position for the next four years. During that period of time, his team won 20 games in a row, becoming the inspiration for the movie ‘’Moneyball’’. At one point, he was required to take a break, due to an accident he had on the field, but Dye still played 145 games after breaking his leg in 2001, until the 2005 season. Nonetheless, once he got back into the game, his performance on the field wasn’t influenced by the prior injury and the experts agree that Jermaine had a successful season.
He was then traded to the Chicago White Sox, and in 2006 he was named World Series MVP when his team won the series, which was the top season for him, scoring 44 home runs, and placing as high as the fifth on AL Most Valuable Player voting in the same year. He made it into the All-Star Team for the second time in his career, proving that despite the fact many years had passed, he still had what it takes. In the beginning of the 2007 season, Dye wasn’t as successful as he had been previously, nevertheless, the situation changed for the better, as he met many challenges and made achievements such as knocking out 20 doubles and 16 home runs in the second half of the season, proving that his skills were still up to scratch. Getting back on the track, his contract was extended for another two years in August 2007. Jermaine was finally at his best again in 2008, scoring 77 extra-base hits and batting .292 with 34 home runs.
Dye finally retired in March 2011.
In his personal life, Jermaine is married to Tricia, and is now reputed to be living a more family-oriented life with their three kids. Today, he is mostly associated with charity work, and in particular helping out kids in need.
