Jeffrey Franklin Kent Wiki Biography

Jeffrey Franklin Kent was born on the 7th March 1968 in Bellflower, California USA, and is a former baseball player who played for 17 seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB) from 1992 to 2008. The player was named the MVP of the National League in 2000, and was chosen for the All – Star Game five times, winning four. Kent is also the winner of four Silver Slugger Awards.

How much is the net worth of Jeff Kent? It has been estimated by authoritative sources that the overall size of his wealth is as much as $50 million, as of the data presented in the middle of 2017. MLB is the main source of Kent’s fortune.

To begin with, Jeff Kent played baseball in Edison High School in Huntington Beach. Then, he played baseball for the team of the University of California at Berkeley before being selected by the Toronto Blue Jays in the amateur draft in 1989.

After four seasons in the minor leagues, he was invited to spring training and became a part of the season’s starting squad in 1992. He debuted in a match against the Baltimore Orioles, making his first hit (a double) in the sixth inning against Jose Mesa. He was transferred to the New York Mets in the summer of 1992, in exchange for pitcher David Cone. Kent played well in his time with the Mets, but acquired a poor reputation because of his temperamental character and isolationist attitude. Before the transfer deadline for the 1996 season, Kent was traded with Jose Vizcaíno to the Cleveland Indians, in exchange for Carlos Baerga and Álvaro Espinoza, and at the end of the season, he was again transferred with Vizcaíno and Julián Tavárez , this time to the Giants of San Francisco, a movement very unpopular due to the departure of Matt Williams from the Giants to Cleveland. With the Giants, Kent’s career took on a new air. In 1997, batting behind Barry Bonds in the lineup, he averaged .250 and made 121 RBIs. He consistently remained among the leading RBIs for the next five seasons, and his contribution was recognized in 2000 by being rewarded with the MVP award, recording .334 on average, 33 home runs and 125 RBIs, plus a notable defense. In 2002, Kent averaged .313, 37 home runs and 108 RBIs.

In 2002, Kent decided to leave the team, signing a contract of two years and $19.9 million with the Houston Astros. In 2004, during the National League Championship Series, Kent hit a three-run home run, allowing the Astros to advance in the series (3-2) against the Cardinals of San Luis, then at the end of 2004, Kent signed a three-year $21 million worth contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers. He had a good season in 2005, hitting .289 with 29 home runs and 105 RBI, leading the team in most offensive categories. At the end of the 2005 season, he signed a contract extension until 2008, but a year later announced that he was retiring as a professional player.

Since retirement, Jeff has appeared in several TV sports-related and reality shows, and also has a 4,000-acre ranch in Tilden, Texas. In 2008, Kent bought the Lakecliff Country Club in Spicewood, Texas, and he also owns a chain of motorcycle and ATV dealerships – Kent Powersports.

Finally, in the personal life of Jeff Kent, he is married to Dana, and they have four children.
