Jeff Cohen Wiki Biography
Jeffrey Bertan McMahon was born on 25 July 1974, in Los Angeles, California USA, and is an attorney, best known for being the founding partner of Cohen & Gardner, LLP. He is also a former child star, best known for his performance in “The Goonies” as Chunk. All of his endeavors have helped put his net worth to where it is today.
How rich is Jeff Cohen? As of early-2017, sources estimate a net worth that is at $4 million, earned through success in his various endeavors, in particular writing about political, legal, and business matters. He also continues to be involved in “The Goonies” related projects. As he continues his work, it is expected that his wealth will also continue to increase.
When he began his acting career, he took his stage name from his mother Elaine Cohen. He started appearing on screen in 1983, both on television and in film. The Steven Spielberg production “The Goonies” would become his most popular role as Lawrence “Chunk” Cohen, and other projects he was a part of include “Perfect Harmony”, “Family Ties”, “Wonderful World of Disney”, and Webster”. Due to people mocking him because of his weight as Chunk, he took up football during high school and would eventually lose a lot of weight. He was one of the children in the game show “Child’s Play” and was also a celebrity in 1985’s “Body Language”. All of these projects increased his net worth. Eventually, after completing his education, he retired early from his show business career.
Jeff then attended the University of California, Berkeley and would earn a degree in Business Administration from the Haas School of Business. During his time at the university he was a resident assistant and also the President of the Associated Students, and was a “Mic-Man” during football games before graduating in 1996. He used connections from his past to get to the business side of film studios, and discovered that he needed to have a law degree to get to the higher positions. He attended the UCLA School of Law, and graduated in 2000, so later became an entertainment lawyer, and two years later established the Cohen & Gardner firm. He was listed as part of The Hollywood Reporter’s “Next Generation: Hollywood’s Top 35 Executives 35 and Under”. His net worth started to increase considerably in this new career.
In 2013, Jeff was named as part of Variety’s Dealmakers Impact Report, and the following year was profiled by The American Bar Association. He also started writing about business, politics, and legal matters as part of CNBC, as well as for The Huffington Post.
For his personal life, there aren’t even any rumours about possible relationships, so Jeff is obviously very private. His sister is actress Eydie Faye, who appeared as a cameo in the final scene of “The Goonies”. In a DVD commentary of the film, Cohen mentioned that he contracted chicken pox during the start of filming. Afraid that he was going to be re-cast, he didn’t tell anyone he contracted the illness and showed up to work. Director Richard Donner described Jeff as a very genuine person.
