Jay Williams Wiki Biography
Jason David Williams is a Plainfield, New Jersey-born American former professional basketball player who is best known for playing in the NBA for the Chicago Bulls. Born on 10 September 1981, Jason is better known by his fans and colleagues by the name Jay Williams. One of the successful professional basketball players in the NBA during his career, Jay was active in his profession between the years 2002 and 2003.
One of the popular personalities in NBA while he was active on the basketball court, one may wonder how rich is Jay Williams at the present? As of early 2016, Jay counts his net worth at the amount of $4 million. Needless to say, his short but successful involvement in basketball as a professional player in the NBA has been the most significant in adding to his riches over the years. Being a successful player is what has made Jay into a mullti-millionaire athlete at the present.
Raised in New Jersey, Jay was schooled in St. Joseph High School. Very inclined towards basketball since his school days, Jay also involved himself in various other sports like chess, volleyball and varsity soccer. After high school, in 1999, he went on to attend college at Duke where he excelled even more as a basketball player. For his impeccable basketball skills, he was even named as ACC Rookie of the Year and National Freshman of the Year by The Sporting News. At this point of his life, Jay was not only succeeding as a basketball player but his net worth also began to rise, if unofficially.
After spending his time at Duke, Jay managed to earn a spot in the NBA as he was picked by Chicago Bulls in 2002 NBA Draft, and almost immediately played for the US national team in the FIBA World Championship. During his career as a basketball player, he was awarded as NABC Player of the Year twice and was also listed twice for Consensus first-team All-American. Along with this, he was also listed in First-team All-ACC in 2001 and 2002. This was the time when he was at his career high, and his riches started to rise exponentially.
Not long into his career in NBA, Jay had a life-changing motorcycle accident on the night of 19 June 2003. He had major injuries from the accident, which occurred when he was unlicenced, not wearing a helmet, and contrary to the terms of his contact with the Bulls anyway. His rehabilitation took years, and he was released by the Bulls with a generous $3 million pay-out and although he intended to return back to Chicago Bulls after his physical therapy and rehabilitation, this never happened, despite a couple of attempts.
Meanwhile, Jay is now working as a college basketball analyst for ESPN and has done motivational speaking at several events. Jay also has published his autobiography entitled “Life Is Not An Accident: A Memoir Of Reinvention”. Of course, all of these projects also have significance in adding to his net worth.
Presently, the 34 years old former athlete enjoys his life as a college basketball analyst. Unmarried as of this date, Jay William’s present net worth of $4 million caters to his daily life as much as possible.
