Jay Pharoah Wiki Biography
Jared Antonia Farrow was born on 14 October 1987, in Chesapeake, Virginia, USA, and is an actor, rapper, voice actor, impressionist, and stand-up comedian, probably best known for being part of the cast of “Saturday Night Live” since 2010. He is considered the 55th greatest “Saturday Night Live” cast member by Rolling Stone magazine, but all of his efforts have helped put his net worth to where it is today.
How rich is Jay Pharoah? As of late-2016, sources inform us of a net worth that is at $3 million, mostly earned through a successful career in comedy and acting. Since becoming part of “Saturday Night Live”, he’s also appeared in several films, including “Lola Versus”, “Ride Along” and “Get a Job”. As he continues his career, it is expected that his wealth will increase.
At the age of six Jay was already doing impersonations, and according to an interview, he first learned the voice of the “Aladdin” character Iago, voiced by Gilbert Gottfried. Thanks to his voice talents, he would enter a talent competition and finish in fifth place. He attended Indian River High School, and would matriculate in 2005. His character, Principal Daniel Frye is influenced by the school’s former principal. Jay then went to Tidewater Community College, and later Virginia Commonwealth University to study business.
Pharoah was already doing stand-up comedy routines in clubs and theaters when he was 15 years old, plus touring with Charlie Murphy and Corey Holcomb, doing a lot of celebrity impressions and gaining popularity for doing so. Some of the impressions were of Denzel Washington, Chris Rock, Kanye West, and 50 Cent, and he also impersonated Barack Obama and that video would become a hit on YouTube. He then appeared in various segments promoting the 2010 BET Awards, during which his character delivered an important package to Terrence J and Rocsi. His net worth was rising steadily.
In the same year, he was hired to be part of “Saturday Night Live”, and was considered by TV Guide as a “breakout player” thanks to his impressionist skills. Some of the impressions he’s done in the show include Jay-Z, Eddie Murphy, Denzel Washington and Lil Wayne, and in 2012, he introduced his Barack Obama impersonation to the show. Later on he would appear in the independent film “Lola Versus”, and he also had a small role in the film “Ride Along” which was released in 2014, starring Kevin Hart and Ice Cube. He also appeared in the independent film “Balls Out” alongside SNL cast members Kate McKinnon and Beck Bennet. One of his latest projects is a commercial for Old Navy. It was also announced that the 42nd season would be his exit from “Saturday Night Love”.
For his personal life, it is known that Jay was born prematurely with a twin brother, who died after birth. He also has a sibling – Shanah – who is his manager. Pharoah keeps his private life exactly that, but there is no news of him marrying. He does a lot of philanthropic work, including participating in the annual “Charity Day”. He also became a part of the 2015 “Red Nose Day Charity Event”.
