James Ray Hart Wiki Biography

James Ray Hart, better known by his nickname “The Mouth of the South”, was born on the 1st January 1944, in Jackson, Mississippi, USA, and is a professional wrestling manager, probably best recognized for his work in the World Championship Wrestling, as well as the World Wrestling Federation. He is also known for being a former musician, and member of the 60s band The Gentrys.

So, have you ever wondered how rich Jimmy Hart is, as of late 2016? According to authoritative sources, it has been estimated that the total size of Hart’s net worth is over $5 million, an amount which has been accumulated through his career as a professional wrestling manager, working with many successful wrestlers. Another part of his income came from his active involvement in the music industry. He is also the co-owner of a tiki-bar, which has added to his fortune as well.

Jimmy Hart spent his childhood in his hometown, but later he moved to Memphis, Tennessee, where he attended Memphis Treadwell High School. Parallel with education, Jimmy was a vocalist in a rock band called The Gentrys, which achieved a million selling record with the single “Keep On Dancing” in 1965. The band was signed to the record label Stax Records until its went bankrupt, and they also performed at local nightclubs.

It was at this point that he was introduced to the world of wrestling by his high school friend, Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler. Aware of Hart’s fame in Memphis due to his band’s previous success, Lawler asked Hart to be his manager on the screen, and this moment marked the start of his prosperous career in the professional wrestling industry. After Lawler and Hart split, Hart went on to form a stable named Hart’s First Family of Wrestling, which included wrestlers such asJim “The Anvil” Neidhart, King Kong Bundy, Ox Baker, “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert, Lanny Poffo, and others. From 1981 to 1984, Hart led wrestlers Masao Ito, Austin Idol, and Eddie Gilbert to their victories and NWA/AWA International titles, which added a considerable amount to his net worth.

Furthermore, continuing as a musician, Hart composed theme songs for many wrestlers who competed in the World Wrestling Federation and World Championship Wrestling, most notable being Honky Tonk Man, Jimmy Snuka, Brutus “The Barber” Beefcake, The Nasty Boys, Hulk Hogan, etc. He was also the main composer of themes for SummerSlam ’88 and WrestleMania VI, increasing further his net worth.

Besides this, Hart released a music album consisting of comical songs named “Outrageous Conduct” in the late 1980’s. He also wrote and sang many of the songs from Hulk Hogan’s album “Hulk Rules”, released in 1995. As of his collaboration with Hogan, the two briefly toured Japan and also worked together on the Hogan’s television series “Thunder In Paradise”, which also has had a huge influence on his net worth.

To speak further about his career, Hart was also the founder and president of Xcitement Wrestling Federation and co-host of Wrestlicious, and he is now signed with the World Wrestling Entertainment. Due to his immense popularity, in 2005 he was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.

When it comes to his personal life, Jimmy Hart has been married to Lamerely since 1970, with whom he has four children. The couple currently resides in Tampa, Florida.

James Ray Hart Important Facts

  • On the July 12, 1986 episode of “WWF on MSG Network,” he won a battle royal by hiding under the ring the entire time and waiting until the last two competitors, Greg Valentine and the Junkyard Dog, had eliminated each other.
  • Several of the themes he composed for WCW wrestlers were blatantly based on existing songs (e.g., Elix Skipper had a theme based directly on DMX’s “Party Up (In Here)”). As a result, on TV Tropes, he is the former Trope Namer for Suspiciously Similar Song, which was originally called The Jimmy Hart Version.
  • When the Hart Foundation severed ties with Jimmy, Hart managed The Fabulous Rougeau Brothers, which engaged in a feud with his former team.
  • Made a guest appearance on WWE SmackDown! in March of 2003. It was his first appearance on WWE programming since WrestleMania IX (1993).
