James Geoffrey Ian Norton was born on 18th July 1985, in London, England, and is an actor perhaps best known for portraying the Prince Andrei Bolkonsky in the miniseries “War and Peace”, for playing Tommy Lee Royce in the miniseries “Happy Valley”, and creating the role of Sidney Chambers in the television series “Grantchester”. Norton has been active in the entertainment industry since 2007.

In 2015, he embodied the painter and poet Duncan Grant in the series “Life in Squares” produced by the BBC, and the same year appeared in the new drama of BBC1, “Lady Chatterley’s Lover”, in which he played Lord Clifford Chatterley. In 2016, he joined the main cast of the miniseries “War and Peace” in the part of Prince Andrei Bolkonsky, and in May of the same year it was announced that he had joined the main cast of the movie “Flatliners”, which was released in 2017. In addition to this, he starred alongside Diane Keaton and Brendan Gleeson in the drama film “Hampstead” directed by Joel Hopkins, and most recently James joined the main cast of the “McMafia” (2018) series, in which he plays the lead role Alex Godman.
