James Hong was born on the 22nd February 1929, in Minneapolis, Minnesota USA, and is an award- winning actor best known to the world as Hannibal Chew in the film “Blade Runner” (1982), then as David Lo Pan in “Big Trouble in Little China” (1986), and recognized as the voice of Mr. Ping in the “Kung Fu Panda” franchise. His career has been active since the mid- 1950s.

From 1972 until 1975 James appeared frequently as a guest star in the TV series “Kung Fu”, and then starred in the comedy “Airplane!” (1980). In 1982 he appeared as Hannibal Chew in “Blade Runner”, with Harrison Ford and Rutger Hauer, and in 1986 he had one of his most recognizable roles, as David Lo Pan in John Carpenter’s action comedy “Big Troubles in Little China”, starring Kurt Russell and Kim Cattrall, and the following year featured in the film “Black Widow”. Before the ‘80s ended, he appeared in the film “The Vineyard” (1989), which only further increased his wealth.
