James Hinchcliffe was born on the 5th December 1986, in Oakville, Ontario, Canada, and is a race car driver, who since 2011 has competed in the Indy Car Series, which is the premier level of open wheel racing in North America. Up to date, he has five wins, has twelve times entered the top three, and 24 times the top five. He also finished in eighth place in the championships in 2012 and 2013. He has been racing since 1996.

At the race in St. Petersburg, he crossed the finish line in fourth place, and in the third race in Long Beach, he achieved his third Indy Car podium finishing third, ending the season eighth overall, while his teammate Ryan Hunter-Reay won the overall standings.

In 2013, Hinchcliffe stayed with Andretti Autosport, and only the champion Scott Dixon scored more victories than Hinchcliffe in the season, but he again finished eighth place overall. In 2014, Hinchcliffe completed his third Indy Car season for Andretti Autosport, with a third place in Lexington his best result, and twelfth place in the drivers’ standings behind his three teammates. In 2015, Hinchcliffe moved within the Indy Car Series to Schmidt Peterson Motorsports, and won the second race in Avondale. In practice for the Indianapolis 500, Hinchcliffe was injured when he hit the wall at over 360 km/h, but thanks to medical care, only had to stay in hospital for two weeks. In 2016 Hinchcliffe returned to the Indy Car Series to Schmidt Peterson Motorsports, and through a third place in the race on the road course of Indianapolis, he scored the pole position for the Indianapolis 500. He finished the season in 13th place overall. In 2017, he again won at Long Beach, and had two more third place finishes, repeating his position in the first race of 2018.

Aside from racing, in 2016 James took part in season 23 of the TV series “Dancing with the Stars”, finishing second partnered with professional dancer Sharna Burgess. Later that year he appeared in an episode of “Celebrity Family Feud” featuring IndyCar drivers.
