James Andrew Arthur Wiki Biography
James Andrew Arthur was born on the 2nd March 1988, in Middlesbrough, North Yorkshire, England, and is a singer and songwriter most famous as the winner of the ninth season of the popular British television show – “The X Factor” in 2012. His debut single “Impossible” peaked at No.1 of the UK Singles Chart in its first week of release, and has now sold over 3.5 million copies worldwide.
Have you ever wondered how much wealth this talented singer has accumulated so far? How rich James Arthur is? According to sources, it is estimated that the total amount of Arthur’s net worth, as of late 2016, is $5 million, all acquired throughout his music career which has been active since 2005.
James was born to Shirley Ashworth, an ex-model and Neil Arthur, a former DJ, and is of Scottish and English descent. He attended Ings Farm Primary School in his home town but later moved to Bahrain following his mother and her new husband, where he enrolled at the British School of Bahrain. After this marriage failed, James returned to UK where he continued his education at Ryehills School in Redcar, North Yorkshire. However, his childhood was quite rough as he spent the majority of time in various foster homes after his mother and step-father split. Since the age of 15, James has been writing and recording songs, and before fame and a solo career, he was a member of several bands including Moonlight Drive, Cue the Drama, Save Arcade and Emerald Skye. These engagements provided a moderate basis for James Arthur’s now respectable net worth.
The real breakthrough in James Arthur’s music career occurred in 2012, when he auditioned for the 2012 TV series of “The X Factor”, and on 9th December 2012 he was named the winner of the show after gaining 53.7% of the votes. His winning song, a cover of Shontelle’s “Impossible” was released as a single for charity causes Together for Short Lives. Subsequently, it became the fastest-selling X Factor’s single ever with over 250,000 downloads in the first 48 hours, and reached No.1 on the UK singles chart within one week of release. It is certain that this initial success helped James to make a name for himself in the music industry, as well as to earn millions.
In 2013, James Arthur released another single “You’re Nobody ‘til Somebody Loves You” which peaked at No.2 on the UK Singles Chart; subsequently James’ eponymous debut studio album was released by Simon Cowell’s Syco Music in November 2013, and instantly reached No.2 on the UK Album Chart, bringing huge popularity to James Arthur. It is certain that these accomplishments have helped Arthur to massively increase the overall size of his wealth.
In late 2013 and the early 2014, James Arthur caused a stir in the media due to some of his controversial and homophobic lyrics in his singles “Hey Mickey”, and his rap mixtape “All The World’s a Stage”. These had led to the breakup between James Arthur and Syco Music, but in May 2014 he independently released his controversial mixtape.
In May 2015, James Arthur performed on The Story So Far tour. In the early stages of 2016, he released another single, “The Truth”. On the 28th October 2016, James Arthur’s second studio album “Back from the Edge” hit the charts, released under the Columbia Records label and including the hit single “Say You Won’t Let Go”. All these ventures have helped James to dramatically increase the total size of his net worth by a large margin.
When it comes to his personal life, James Arthur is considered to be a real womanizer. In the past he was romantically involved with several women including dance teacher Lucie Poole, his X Factor colleague Chanelle McCleary, TV personality Kimberley Garner, glamour model Lacey Banghard and Playboy bunny Carla Howe. The latest rumor says that James and his now longtime girlfriend Jessica Grist, are planning an engagement ceremony. However, this remains to be seen.
