Henry M. Paulson, Jr. was born on the 28th March 1946 in Palm Beach, Florida USA, and is a businessman and politician, perhaps most noted in business for having held the position of the Chairman and CEO of the bank Goldman Sachs. A member of the Republican Party, he was appointed the Secretary of the Treasury in the administration of President George W. Bush from 2006 to 2009, among other political appointments held. Paulson has been active in politics and business since 1970.

He was noted for his opposition to any public bailout of the Lehman bank, the collapse of which is seen as precipitating the GFC, At the beginning of 2009, he was succeeded by Tim Geithner.

As a long standing member of the Nature Conservancy he was temporarily a chairman and currently is the member of the Asia Pacific Council. In his capacity, Paulson closely worked with the former president of the People’s Republic of China, Jiang Zemin , taking measures to save the Tiger Leaping Gorge in the province of Yunnan, in the Southwest China. He also donated $100 million dollars of his Goldman Sachs stock package for nature conservation and environmental education. Paulson is a member of the advisory board of the Peregrine Fund, which stands for the protection of birds of prey. He was a founding member and chairman of the School of Economics and Management of Tsinghua University in Beijing.

In 2015, his book “Dealing with China: An Insider Unmasks the New Economic Superpower” was published. It should also be noted, that the character of Henry Paulson was brought to the television series “Too Big to Fail: Debacle on Wall Street” (2011); his character was played by the actor William Hurt, and then the character of Paulson was seen in the documentary “Hank: Five Years From the Brink” (2013).
