Glen Hansard Wiki Biography
Glen Hansard was born on the 21st April 1970, in Dublin, Ireland, and is an actor, singer, songwriter and guitarist, probably best known to the world as the front-man of the rock group The Frames, with which he has released six albums. His career started in the early ‘90s.
Have you ever wondered how rich Glen Hansard is, as of mid- 2017? According to authoritative sources, it has been estimated that Hansard’s net worth is as high as $5 million, an amount earned through his successful career in the entertainment industry.
Glen left school when he was 13 years old, and started performing for money on the streets of Dublin. Little by little his musical ambitions increased, and in 1990 he formed the band The Frames. In the early years, the group held numerous gigs and raised a respectable fan base, before signing a contract with Island Records. Their debut album came out in 1991, entitled “Another Love Song”, and received quite positive critiques, which encouraged Glen and the rest of the group to continue with their career. Concurrently, Glen featured in the iconic film “The Commitments”, somewhat reluctantly as he thought it too much of a distraction from his primary career. Four years later they released their second album, “Fitzcarraldo”, which landed at No. 26 on the Irish Albums Chart, so gradually the group was becoming more and more popular, and with the start of the ‘00s, they became commercially successful. Albums “For the Birds” (2001), “Burn the Maps” (2004) – which became their first No. 1 album – and “The Cost” (2006), all reached high chart positions, and were sold in significant numbers, which only increased Glen’s net worth.
Their most recent release is the album “Longitude” from 2015.
Thanks to the growing popularity of the band, Glen wanted to try-out on his own, and in 2012 released his debut solo album “Rhythm and Repose”, which landed at No. 3 on the Irish Album Chart, and also sold 77,000 copies in the USA. Three years later, Glen released his second studio album “Didn’t He Ramble”, which also peaked at No. 3 on the Irish Album Chart.
Also, back in 2006 he teamed up with Czech singer and multi-instrumentalist Markéta Irglová to form The Swell Season, and the two recorded three albums “The Swell Season” (2006), soundtrack for the film “Once” (2007), and “Strict Joy” in 2009, which achieved moderate success and contributed to his net worth too.
Glen’s music has also been used for films, including the song “Falling Slowly”, which was in the soundtrack for the film “Once” (2007), for which he won the Academy Award in category Best Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures, Original Song, and several other prestigious awards for the same song. He appeared as himself in an episode of “Parenthood” in 2010, and again in “TheLat Man on Earth” in 2016, plus was involved with the band in the documentary “The Deep Shade” in 2013, all adding somewhat to his net worth.
Glen also followed Eddie Vedder on his solo tour in 2011, and played with the entire Pearl Jam lineup, also in 2011, which added to his fame and his bank account.
Regarding his personal life, Glen isn’t married and doesn’t have any children. Nor have any rumours surfaced of a romantic relationship.

Glen Hansard Quotes

- I’m really interested in timeliness. Whether in music, art or fashion. I like the idea of not being able to tell what era something is from.
- If the sentiment becomes your focus, then the music becomes secondary.
- It’s a new personality to try on or a new set of clothes to try on. Everything you’ve been is basically over. … Sometimes it feels more comfortable having potential rather than having accreditation.
