Torres also made several appearances in the soap opera “One Life to Live” in 1995 and ’96, followed by guest appearances in various series which included “NYPD Blue” (1995), “Dark Angel” (1996), “Profiler” (1997) and “Xena – Warrior Princess” (1997). In 1998, she was cast in the television series “Nikita” as lesbian enemy agent Jenna Vogler, before in 2000 obtaining her first major role, that of Helen Carter in the television series “Cleopatra 2525” – thanks to her performance she won an ALMA Award in the category the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Syndicated Drama Series. The series ended in 2001, then between 2001 and 2006 she starred in the role of Anna Espinosa in the television series “Alias” alongside Jennifer Garner and Ron Rifkin, meantime landing a number of guest appearances in series “The Guardian” (2003), “CSI: Crime Scene” (2004), “The Shield” (2006), and “Without a Trace” (2006). In 2006, Gina played a major role as head of a task force for hostages in the series “Standoff”, followed by additional guest roles in “Boston Legal” and “Bones” in 2008, “Gossip Girl” (2009) and “Vampire Diaries” (2010), but landed main roles in the series “Huge” (2010) and “Suits” (2011 – present). Then she played in the drama “Do not Let Me Drown” which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, and in 2013 she created the role of Janice Waters in the film “Mr. Sophistication”. Her net worth has certainly remained steady, supplemented by most recent appearances in “The Catch”, “Claws” and “Final Space”. Gina has now been involved in almost 20 films on the big screen, and over 60 TV productions, plus several voice-overs in video games.

Gina Torres Quotes
- My view of myself doesn’t change. I know who I am. I’m Cuban American; both my parents are Cuban – one was a little browner than the other one. That’s who I am. I feel sorry that it’s taken so long for the film industry to figure it out and to catch up.
- I have been very, very fortunate on this show, on ‘Suits,’ where the writers do come to me, and they ask my comfort level and, if they want to push an envelope in a certain direction, if I’m okay with that. And, by and large, I am. I think it’s important.
- I don’t tweet – I have nothing to say.
- When it was announced that I was going to be on ‘Castle,’ there were immediate messages on all the TV news sites from ‘Firefly’ fans hoping for a nod to the series – some encrypted business just for them! I can’t promise that, but I can say that a few people out there might get a thrill.
- I certainly came up in an era where women were really making strides and making a point to beat down doors and find their place and crash through the glass ceiling.
- You have Showtime, you have AMC, you have all of these, you know, incredible networks that are now bringing forth their product without the handcuffs, if you will, of trying to sell soap to the entire country.
