Gina Ravera Wiki Biography

Gina Ravera was born on the 20th May 1966, in San Francisco, California USA, and is a retired actress, perhaps best known to the world as Molly Abrams in the film “Showgirls” (1995), then as Naomi Cross in the film “Kiss the Girls” (1997), and for her portrayal of Irene Daniels in the TV series “The Closer” (2005-2009), among many other differing appearances.

Have you ever wondered how rich Gina Ravera is, as of mid- 2017? According to authoritative sources, it has been estimated that Ravera’s net worth is as high as $2 million, an amount earned through her career as an actress, which was active from 1990 until 2014.

Gina is of mixed ancestry; she has African-American, and Puerto Rican roots as well. Before she set her sights on becoming an actress, Gina trained in classic dance.

She made her acting debut in the film “Lambada” in 1990, starring Melora Hardin, and during the early ‘90s, she had several one-time appearances in popular TV series, such as “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” (1990), “In Living Color” (1991), and “Melrose Place” (1992), all of which helped her garner attention from producers and directors. In 1993 she was cast in her first recurring role, as Dr. Diana Roth in the TV crime-drama series “Silk Stalkings”, and then in 1995 was cast as Molly Abrams in the highly acclaimed drama film “Showgirls”, starring Elizabeth Berkley, Kyle MacLachlan and Gina Gershon. The role put her on the Hollywood map, and throughout the second half of the ‘90s, Gina played in several successful productions, including the sports drama film “Soul of the Game” (1996), next to such stars as Delroy Lindo, Mykelti Williamson and Edward Herrmann, then the box office hit “Soul Food” (1997), alongside Vanessa Williams, Vivica A.Fox and Nia Long, and another box office success, the crime-drama “Kiss the Girls” (1997), with Morgan Freeman, Ashley Judd and Cary Elwes, all of which added a considerable amount to her wealth. She finished the decade in the role of Jocelyn House in the TV drama series “Time of Your Life” (1999-2000), further increasing her net worth.

Unfortunately she didn’t build on her success from the late ‘90s, instead, only had roles in B- production films, but she managed to get out from the slump into the role of Irene Daniels in the crime-drama series “The Closer” (2005-2009), which won her several award nominations, including for two SAG Awards. She was then cast as Dr. Bettina DeJesus in the TV drama series “ER” (2006-2008), while in 2007 she portrayed Ruth Tolson in the Golden Globe Award- nominated biopic about Melvin B. Tolson, “The Great Debaters”, next to Denzel Washington, Forest Whitaker and Kimberly Elise. However, since 2011 she only appeared in minor roles in TV series “Lie to Me” and “Castle”, after which she decided to retire from acting.

Regarding her personal life, Gina tends to keep her most intimate details hidden from the media, therefore, there is no available information about Gina’s marital status and other aspects of her life aside from her profession.
