George Hincapie was born on the 29th June 1973, in New York, USA and is a cyclist. Specializing in cobbled classics, he won Gent – Wevelgem in 2001 and was ranked seven times in the top ten in Paris – Roubaix one-day cycling classic. He is also known to have been a loyal crewman and friend of Lance Armstrong and Cadel Evans. At the end of 2012, after confessing to having used doping during his career, he was suspended for six months and afterwards ended the career. He had been cycling professionally from 1996 to 2012.

In the autumn of 2012, Hincapie admitted to having used doping during his career until 2006. Together with another ten former team mates, Hincapie was charged by US Drug Administration, accepted a reduced suspension for six months and a disqualification in all races between 31st May 2004 and 31st July 2006.
