Gennady Gennadyevich Golovkin – or “GGG” – was born on 8 April 1982, in Karaganda, Kazakhstan, of Russian and Korean descent, and is a professional boxer, best known for holding multiple middleweight tiles including the IBF, IBO, WBA (Super) and WBC. He’s been active in the sport professionally since 2005 and all of his efforts have helped put his net worth to where it is today.

He is considered the world’s best active boxer pound for pound, and is known for his powerful punching. As he continues his career, it is expected that his wealth will also continue to increase.
At a young age, GGG was already boxing, and he would often fight with grown men. He had two older brothers, who both passed away after serving with the soviet army, but he continued to train for boxing, working with Victor Dmitriev at the boxing gym located in Maikuduk, Karaganda. In 2002, he earned a scholarship for the Olympic Solidarity Program which led to the start of his amateur career. He took part in the 2003 World Amateur Boxing Championships, winning the gold medal against Oleg Mahskin in the final. The following year, he joined the Summer Olympics and won a silver medal, only losing to Gaydarbek Gaydarbekov. He also joined the 2004 Asian Amateur Boxing Championships to win gold; in 2005, he completed his amateur career with a record of 345-5.
Golovkin then signed a professional deal with Universum Box-Promotion (UBP) which would eventually lead him to increase his net worth significantly. In 2008, his professional record was at 14-0 with 11 knockouts, and he started to become one of the best boxing prospects in the world, winning four more matches the following year. Eventually, he terminated his contract with Universum in 2010 after the company started to have financial troubles. He was given a fight against number 1 ranked Miton Nunez, whom he would defeat in 58 seconds to become the WBA (Regular) champion.
He then signed with K2 Promotions and started to train in the US – his American debut would lead him to fight and win via TKO against Grzegorz Proska. In 2013, he defended his title against former welterweight champion Nobuhiro Ishida delivering Ishida his first knockout of his career. He would eventually earn his IBO title, now holding two.
Gennady would continue to defend his title, and would elevated to a (Super) champion after 10 successful title defenses. In 2014, he fought against Interim WBC champion Marco Antonia Rubio, winning the WBC title, and the following year, he fought against Martin Murray before going on against Willie Monroe Jr. He continue to fight well into 2017, and intended to unify all the belts available. However, after deals fell off against Billy Joe Saunders, he was then slated to fight Canelo Alvarez. The fight would turn into a split draw though many believed that Gennady won the fight. The fight would become the third highest gate in boxing history.
For his personal life, it is known that GGG is married to Alina and they have two children. He speaks four languages – English, Russian and German as well as Kazakh. He along with his family now resides in Santa Monica, California. He has also mentioned that he enjoys spending time with his family, and his favorite food is beef.
