Gary Chapman is an American television presenter and Christian musician. He was born on the 19th of August, 1957, in Waurika, Oklahoma.

Chapman’s father was pastor Reverend Terry Chapman. He and his family lived in De Leon, Texas, and Gary, encouraged by his family to follow in his father’s footsteps, attended Southwestern Assemblies of God University, in Waxahachie, but dropped out before completing his studies, wishing to focus on becoming an entertainer and performer, and on spreading his religious message through music. He later stated that he believed he was guided to do this by God.

Chapman also has three biological children from his first marriage to Amy Grant, whom he married in 1982 and divorced in 1999. Chapman was also married to Jennifer Pittman between 2000 and 2007. He participates in numerous philanthropic organisations, and in his spare time enjoys flying a helicopter. Chapman has an ongoing project with his wife, Cassie, which involves the couple selecting one hymn a week, which is posted to the website “A Hymn a Week”.
