Frank Lee Beard Wiki Biography

Frank Lee Beard was born on 11 June 1949, in Frankston, Texas USA, and is a drummer, best known to be part of the rock band ZZ Top. He was also formerly associated with bands such as The Hustlers, The Cellar Dwellers, American Blues, and The Warlocks. All of his efforts have helped put his net worth to where it is today.

How rich is Frank Beard? As of mid-2016, sources inform us of a net worth that is at $50 million, mostly earned through success in the music industry. He’s performed with big names in the industry, and has been with ZZ Top ever since the formation of the band in 1969. All of these ensured the position of his wealth.

Frank attended Irving High School, and in 1969 joined the band The Moving Sidewalks which he met vocalist Gibbons’ ZZ Top. He then introduced bassist Dusty Hill to Gibbons and soon the trio would perform together. Prior to them forming a band, Dusty and Beard had already performed together in other bands such as American Blues, the Cellar Dwellers, and the Warlocks. Soon this newly formed trio would be called ZZ Top and they started honing their musical style described as “Texas boogie-blues-rock”. They created their first album entitled “ZZ Top’s First Album” which was released by London Records in 1971. During the work on their first album, Beard was called by his nickname “Rube Beard” but eventually was credited as Frank Beard during their second album “Rio Grande Mud”.

ZZ Top would stay together and is one of the groups who still consist of the original line up even after 45 years. Throughout the years they’ve received praise from musicians and critics, especially for their musical mastery. They continued to improve on their lyrical and blues style, often inserting innuendo to their songs. Eventually, in later albums they started incorporating other genres such as dance-rock and new wave music. They’ve sold over 50 million albums and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004.

The band has had four gold records, three platinum records, and two multi-platinum ones. Their album “Eliminator” released in 1983 remains as their most successful, selling 10 million copies in the United States alone. They’ve also been characterized by their long beards, though Frank Beard as his name would connote, doesn’t actually have a beard but only sports a moustache. During the 1990s however, he sported a thin beard but eventually decided to remove it.

For his personal life, it is known that Frank married Catherine Alexander in 1978 and their marriage lasted until July 1981 when they divorced. A year later, he married Debbie Meredith and they would have three children. The family resides in Richmond, Texas and Frank operates a ranch in the area. Aside from these, he is a scratch golfer and competes locally in events and tournaments. He’s also well known for his personality especially in interviews which he displays a dry sense of humor. He also likes to play practical jokes within the band.
