Francesco Columbu was born on the 7th August 1941, in Ollolai, Sardinia Italy, and is an actor, author and former bodybuilding champion – four time Mr. Olympia. Franco’s career started in the late 1960s.

Two years later he won his first title, when he was named Mr. Universe – Most Muscular competitor, and in 1969 became IFBB Mr. Europe. The same year Franco also won NBAA NBAA Mr. Universe in Most Muscular category and Mr. Universe in Short. He won several more titles in Mr. Universe competitions, and then in 1976 won his first Mr. Olympia title, and after several years of inactivity, he won the title again in 1981, then decided to retire.
He has also been successful in powerlifting, since he was Champion of Italy and Europe, overall. Some of his best powerlifting results include a bench press of 238 kg/ 525 lbs, squat (exercise) 297 kg / 655 lbs, and deadlift at 340.2 kg / 750 lbs.
Franco then launched an acting career, debuting in the TV series “The Streets of San Francisco” (1977). Five years later he featured in the Golden Globe Award-winning film “Conan the Barbarian”, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and James Earl Jones. Over the years Franco became a close friend of Arnold, appearing together in several films, including the top rated “The Terminator” (1984), with Linda Hamilton and Michael Biehn, and “The Running Man” (1987). In 1997 he had the lead role in the action film “Doublecross on Costa’s Island” (1997). In recent years, Franco starred in the Italian drama “Dreamland: La terra dei sogni” (2011), and appeared in the film “One More Round” (2015), all contributing to his net worth.
