Francesca Marlene de Czanyi von Gerber Wiki Biography
Mitzi Gaynor was born as born as Francesca Marlene de Czanyi von Gerber on the 4th September 1931, in Chicago, Illinois USA and is a Golden Globe Award- nominated actress, singer and dancer, best known to the world for her appearance in the musical “South Pacific” (1958), as Ensign Nellie Forbush, USN, among many other appearances.
Have you ever wondered how rich Mitzi Gaynor is, as of mid- 2017? According to authoritative sources, it has been estimated that Gaynor’s net worth is as high as $10 million, an amount earned through her successful career in the entertainment industry, which started in the late ‘40s. Aside from film appearances, notable for her singing, Mitzi was featured in several Academy Film Award Ceremonies, performing some of her most successful film hits, which also improved her wealth.
Mitzi is the daughter of dancer, Pauline Fisher and her husband Henry von Gerber, who was a violinist, music director, and cellist. Her parents divorced and her father remarried, and she became step-sister to Donald W. Duncan, famous anti-war activist.
From Chicago, she and her family moved to Elgin, and then to Detroit, Michigan, and when she turned eleven, they moved to Hollywood. Starting as a child, Mitzi took ballet lessons and as she grew up she also took singing lessons. When she turned 13, she joined Los Angeles Civic Light Opera company as a singer and dancer, and then four years later lied about her real age in order to enroll at Hollywood High School, and to sign a seven-year contract with Twentieth Century-Fox, although she was released from her contract after four years. During that time, she featured in musicals such as “My Blue Heaven” (1950), “Take Care of My Little Girl” (1951), “Golden Girl” (1951), then “Bloodhounds of Broadway” (1952), “Down Among the Sheltering Palms” (1953), next to Jane Greer and William Lundigan, and “There’s No Business Like Show Business” (1954), starring Ethel Merman, Marilyn Monroe and Donald O’Connor. Her net worth had a sound base already.
After Fox, she worked for several other production houses, including Paramount, Rodgers and Hammerstein, MGM among others. She continued to build her name in the entertainment industry by appearing in such musicals as “Anything Goes” (1956) with Bing Crosby, and Zizi Jeanmaire, then the Oscar Award- winning “The Joker Is Wild” (1957) with Frank Sinatra and Jeanne Crain, and the same year she featured in the Oscar Award- winning “Les Girls” with Gene Kelly and Kay Kendall. The following year came her most notable role as Ensign Nellie Forbush, USN in the Oscar Award- winning “South Pacific” (1958), starring Rossano Brazzi and John Kerr. Before she retired from acting, Mitzi featured in “Surprise Package” (1960), and “For Love or Money” in 1963, next to Kirk Douglas, and Gig Young. Since then she has toured extensively, and has created several TV specials, which only increased her wealth.
Regarding her personal life, Mitzi was married to Jack Bean from 1954 until 2006, when he died; Jack was also her manager. The couple was childless.
