Born Fatimah Nyeema Warner on the 18th December 1991, in Chicago, Illinois USA, under her stage name of Noname she is a rapper and poet, who came to prominence after being featured on Chance the Rapper’s song “Lost”. She became known for her slam poetry performances in the Chicago area starting in 2010. After years of successful work in the underground scene, Noname made her breakthrough in 2016, with the release of her debut mixtape “Telefone”.
Have you ever wondered how rich her talents have made her? According to authoritative sources, it is estimated that Noname’s net worth is as high as $1 million, earned through her successful career, active since 2010.
Raised by her grandparents in the Bronzeville neighborhood of Chicago, younger Noname was quite interested in writing and music; she listened to Buddy Guy and Howlin’ Wolf among other artists and while in high school took a creative writing class. She steadily became more involved in creativity classes and attended YOUMedia project, held in the Harold Washington Library, where she came in touch with a number of talented people, including Chance the Rapper, with whom she has developed an ongoing professional relationship.
Once out of high school, Noname began participating in local open mics and slam poetry competitions, which eventually resulted in a third-place Louder than a Bomb, a Chicago annual competition. After that, she started developing rapping talent, and as a result she collaborated with Chance the Rapper on his mixtape “Acid Rap”, particularly on the song “Lost” in 2013. The following year, she contributed to the song “Comfortable”, which can be found on Mick Jenkins’ mixtape “The Waters”, so Noname was becoming more popular on the music scene, which resulted in a collaboration with Kirk Knight on his album “Late Knight Special” in 2015. Her net worth was at least set.
Until 2016, Noname was known as Noname Gypsy, but as she gained popularity, she had to drop the Gypsy part because of racial connotations the name carried, and in March 2016 she officially became Noname, and released an apological statement on her Twitter profile to the Romani people, saying that she wasn’t aware of the negative meaning of the word Gypsy.
Back to her budding career, later in 2016 Noname released her debut mixtape “Telefone”, which featured collaborations with such artists as Saba, Smino, and Raury among others, which only helped her increase further her popularity, and net worth, thanks to a number of downloaded copies. Most recently, Noname appeared at NPR, performing Tiny Desk Concert, on the 3rd April 2017.
When it comes to her personal life, she tends to keep a low profile, therefore, no reliable information is available about the personal life of this rising star, outside her professional career.
