Evander Holyfield Wiki Biography
Evander Holyfield was born on 15 October 1962, in Almore, Alabama USA, the youngest in a family of nine children. He is a well-known retired boxer, famous for being the undisputed world champion in two divisions, heavyweight and light-heavyweight, during a career which began in 1984 and lasted until his final fight in 2011.
So just how rich is Evander Holyfield? It is estimated by authoritative sources that Evander’s net worth is now just $1 million, which is all that is left from the estimated $250 million that he won in the ring, and earned from lucrative endorsements, the rest lost on gambling, three expensive divorces and maintenance payments for some of his 11 children.
Evander became interested in boxing at a very young age; when he was just seven years old he won his first boxing tournament, working up to when he was 15 and won the title of South-eastern Regional Champion. In 1983 Evander participated in the Pan American Games where he was able to win a silver medal, and then won a bronze medal in the light-heavyweight division at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics. This made him noticed and acclaimed among others of the boxing fraternity.
In 1984 Holyfield began his professional career in the light heavyweight division, later moving into the cruiserweight and then heavyweight divisions. Evander was able to show his skills by winning many fights against experienced boxers, and so step by step his net worth began growing, based on his impressive results. In 1986 Evander became the WBA Cruiserweight Champion and this made him even more acclaimed in the sport. He is the only four-time World Heavyweight Champion, which began in 1990 when Holyfield knocked out Heavyweight Champion Buster Douglas to win the WBC, WBA, IBF Heavyweight titles and become the undisputed world champion, the WBA and IBF titles in 1993, and the WBA title in 1996 and 2000. During his subsequent career, Evander fought and defeated the best boxers around at the time, including George Foreman, Larry Holmes, Riddick Bowe, Ray Mercer, Mike Tyson twice, Michael Moorer, John Ruiz, Michael Dokes and Hasim Rahman. In 2012 Evander announced that he wanted to retire from boxing. Despite this fact, his official and final retirement wasn’t announced until 2014, with a fight record of 44 wins and 10 losses.
Evander has also been involved in various other activities. He is the founder and owner of the company called “Real Deal Records”; he has also worked on the video game entitled “Evander Holyfield’s Real Deal Boxing”, and in addition has appeared in such television shows as “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air”, “Strictly Come Dancing” and “Dancing with the Stars” among others. What is more, Holyfield appeared in three movies: “Blood Salvage”, ‘Summer of Sam” and “Necessary Roughness”; all these appearances increased Evander’s net worth somewhat. Recently he has appeared in the show entitled “Celebrity Big Brother”.
To talk about Evander’s personal life, he has married and divorced three times, to Paulette Bowen from 1985 to ‘91, Janice Itson from 1996 to 2000, and to Candi Smith from 2001 to 2012. Evander has 11 children with six women, which has proven a rather expensive pastime.
