Eric Cantor was born on the 6th June 1963, in Richmond, Virginia USA, of Romanian, Russian and Latvian descent, and is a politician – a member of the Republican Party – lawyer, and businessman, best known as representing Virginia’s 7th congressional district (2001-2014) in the US House of Representatives. Cantor also served as the House Minority Whip from 2009 to 2011, and as the House Republican Deputy Chief Whip from 2003 to 2009. His career started in 1982.

He stayed in the position from 2001 to 2014, serving as the House Republican Deputy Chief Whip from 2003 to 2009, and House Minority Whip from 2009 to 2011, then House Majority Leader from January 2011 to August 2014, when he was defeated.

Cantor resigned as the House Majority Leader in 2014 after losing primary election to the Tea Party candidate Dave Brat in a major upset, 44.5%–55.5%.
