Have you ever wondered how rich Eric Cantor is, as of early 2017? According to authoritative sources, it has been estimated that Cantor’s net worth is as high as $4.5 million, an amount earned through his three successful careers in politics, law and as a real estate developer.

Eric Cantor was the second of three children of Eddie Cantor, a real estate firm owner, and Mary Lee, a schoolteacher, and was raised in Conservative Judaism. He went to the Collegiate School in Richmond, and later studied at the George Washington University, while he worked as an intern for House Republican Tom Bliley, and served as his driver during Bliley’s campaign in 1982. Cantor earned his Bachelor of Arts in 1985 and then received a Juris Doctor degree from William & Mary Law School in 1988, while a year later, Eric achieved his Master of Science in Real Estate Development from Columbia University in 1989.

In the meantime, Cantor was already working as a real estate developer and lawyer in his father’s company, but from 1992 he became active in politics, as he served in the Virginia House of Delegates from 1992 to 2001. He was a member of various committees, such as Corporation Insurance and Banking, Courts of Justice, Science and Technology, General Laws, and Claims. Cantor moved up and became the member of the US House of Representatives from Virginia’s 7th district, following the steps of his mentor Tom Bliley. He stayed in the position from 2001 to 2014, serving as the House Republican Deputy Chief Whip from 2003 to 2009, and House Minority Whip from 2009 to 2011, then House Majority Leader from January 2011 to August 2014, when he was defeated.

Cantor resigned as the House Majority Leader in 2014 after losing primary election to the Tea Party candidate Dave Brat in a major upset, 44.5%–55.5%. Since the 2nd September 2014, Eric has served as vice chairman and managing director of the Moelis & Company, a global independent investment bank, with 17 offices across the world.

Regarding his personal life, Eric Cantor married Diana Marcy Fine, a lawyer and certified public accountant, in 1989 after a blind date, and he has three children with her. They currently live in Wyndham, Virginia.

During his days in the office, Cantor reported that someone shot a bullet through his window in Richmond, but discounted by police. He also reported threatening e-mails and phone calls, after which Norman Leboon and Glendon Swift were arrested and later jailed.
