Edward James Stafford Wiki Biography

Born Edward James Stafford on the 26th December 1975, in Peterborough, England, Ed is an explorer, probably best known to the world for being the first human ever to walk the entire length of the Amazon River, as well as for hosting shows on the Discovery Channel.

Have you ever wondered how rich Ed Stafford is, as of late 2017? According to authoritative sources, it has been estimated that Stafford’s wealth is as high as $2 million, an amount earned through his career as an explorer, and as a TV personality, active since the early 2000s.

Ed was adopted as a baby, and grew up with his adoptive parents and his sister, Janie, in Leicestershire, During his childhood, Ed was a part of the Scout Association, his first experience of the outdoor life and activities which was a base for his later lifestyle and interests. He went to Uppingham school, and later joined the British Army, becoming an infantry officer in the Devon and Dorsetshire Regiment. In 2000 he was sent to Northern Ireland on an operational tour, eventually leaving the Army as a captain in 2002, having laid the basis of his net worth.

He started his journey along the Amazon River in 2008 and for the next 860 days documented his journey from the Amazon’s source in the Andes to the Atlantic Ocean. He deliberately detailed his whole trip, which later brought him fame, and fortune as well, as his whole journey was aired on Channel 5 in the show “Walking the Amazon” in 2011, which certainly contributed significantly to his net worth. He has also published several books which detail several of his activities.

After the series ended, Discovery Channel took him under its wing, and started a number of survival-type serie,s with Ed as the star of those shows. These have now included “Ed Staford: Naked and Marooned” (2013), “Naked Castaway” (2013), “Marooned with Ed Stafford” (2014), and “Ed Stafford: Into the Unknown” (2015), all of which were popular and have certainly increased his wealth considerably.

Most recently, Ed became the subject of another survivalist show – “Ed Stafford: Left For Dead”, which will premiere in late 2017.

Thanks to his enterprises, Ed has received several awards, including the Mungo Park Medal presented by the Royal Scottish Geographical Society, and his name can be found in the 2012 Guinness Book of Records, because of his Amazon River expedition.

Regarding his personal life, Ed has been married to adventurer and explorer Laura Bingham since 2016, whom he met during her preparation for her cycling adventure of 7000 kilometers across South America.

Following the end of his Amazon River expedition, Ed started searching for his biological parents, as he says ‘…just to find out…’. With the help of his adoptive sister, Janie, Ed managed to find his biological family and discovered that he has two younger brothers.
