Edison Chen grew up with his two older sisters in British Columbia where he went to the R.C. Palmer Secondary School in Richmond, and then moved to Hong Kong where his father was born, and attended the Hong Kong International School. In 1999, a talent scout approached Chen and offered him a part in a commercial for the Leon Lai’s Citibank, and only a year after, he debuted on-screen in “Dead or Alive 2:Birds”. His net worth was established.
Edison filmed several movies in Hong Kong including the influential “Infernal Affairs” in 2002, and in 2003 he starred in “Infernal Affairs 2” and “Infernal Affairs 3”, before playing in “The Medallion” starring Jackie Chan. In the mid-2000s, Chen had roles in “Initial D” (2005), “Dog Bite Dog” (2006), and “The Grudge 2” (2006). By the end of the decade, Edison appeared in Christopher Nolan’s Oscar-winning “The Dark Knight” (2008) starring Christian Bale, Heath Ledger, and Aaron Eckhart, and in “The Sniper” (2009), which increased his net worth by a large margin. Most recently, he appeared in “Almost Perfect” (2011) and “Golden Chickensss” (2014). His net worth has grown steadily over the years.
Chen is a co-founder of CLOT Inc., a clothing company that collaborated with major companies such as Adidas, Nike, and A Bathing Ape. The company helped him to increase his net worth significantly, but Edison didn’t stop there as he has also released the hip-hop album “Please Steal This Album” in 2004, and “CONFUSION” in 2009, which have contributed to his wealth.
Regarding his personal life, Edison Chen has been linked with several Asian actresses and models, but has never married or been engaged. A few incidents occurred during his career; in 2004 two teenagers mocked Chen with dancing moves and then punched him in the face, after which he chased them and finally caught them, but decided not to press charges against the youngsters. In 2007, he got into an altercation with a taxi driver, and after kicking the vehicle, he was forced to pay compensation to the taxi company. In 2008, Edison was involved in a public sex scandal when his nude photos appeared on the Internet.
