Doug E. Fresh is regarded as one of the most influential rappers of all time. He rose to fame after inventing the human beat box, which involved imitating various sounds including drum machines using only his lips, mouth, throat, gums as well as the microphone. Even though he started his career as a solo performer, he became popular after tracks alongside Slick Rick and Run DMC were released. The most significant singles by the hip hop artist have been “The Snow” (1985) which is like the conversation between MC Ricky D and Doug E. Fresh, and “La Di Da Di” (1985) which is considered as a hip hop classic. It is worth saying that “The Snow” (1985) set the record in Europe, being the best selling hip hop single of all time. In the USA, it was rated the top rap single of the year by Spin magazine. “La Di Da Di” (1985) entered that Billboard Top Hot 100 and became the single that was later referenced by a number of artists. Of course his net worth benefited accordingly.
During his career Doug E. Fresh has released four studio albums, “Oh, My God!” (1986), “The World’s Greatest Entertainer” (1988), “Doin’ What I Gotta Do (1992) and “Play” (1995). Afterwards, he appeared on stage, and recorded usually as a guest artist, yet has been active in the hip hop industry up to date. Wonder, how did he manage to gain the popularity without releasing an album? In 2005, he appeared on the stage of the television show named “American Idol” (2005) thus reminding viewers of his worth. Five years later, he recorded a song alongside the Cali Swag District band “Teach Me How to Dougie”(2010), gaining the attention of the masses as the single topped the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Songs as well as being certified platinum twice in the USA. Due to the success of the single, Doug E. Fresh was invited onto a number of events, television shows, and participation at the BET Pre-Awards Show and the Soul Train Awards, this way also increasing his net worth as well as the popularity in the music industry.
Further, Doug E. is also a businessman as he has launched the restaurant called Doug E.’s Chicken and Waffles located in New York City, which also adds sums to the total size of his net worth.
Finally, in the personal life of Doug E. Fresh, he likes to keep it private and doesn’t reveal much, although it is known that he is married and fathered six children. Fresh is a member of the Church of Scientology and has performed for church audiences.
