Dolores O’Riordan Wiki Biography
Dolores Mary Ellen O’Riordan, born on 6th September 1971 in Limerick, Ireland, was a singer, songwriter and guitarist, best known to the world for being the lead singer of the rock band The Cranberries from the mid-1990s. She passed away in 2018.
Have you ever wondered how rich Dolores O’Riordan ws, as of 2018? According to authoritative sources, it has been estimated that Dolores` net worth was as high as $15 million, earned through her successful career as a musician. In addition to being the lead singer of The Cranberries, she also released several solo albums, and was the lead vocalist of the band D.A.R.K. too, which also improved her wealth.
Dolores was a daughter of Terence and Eileen O’Riordan, and grew up in the Ballybricken area of County Limerick with six older siblings. She was educated at Laurel Hill Coláiste FCJ, located in Limerick.
Dolores joined the band Cranberries Saw Us in 1990, and the same year they released an EP entitled “Nothing Left at All”. After that, they shortened their name to The Cranberries, and signed with Island Records. In 1993 their first full length studio album came out; entitled “Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can`t We”, it topped the Irish and UK charts, while it achieved multiple platinum status in the USA and UK, and platinum in Australia, Canada and New Zealand. This certainly increased Dolores’ net worth, but also encouraged her and the rest of the band to continue to produce music.
The Cranberries and Dolores continued to be prominent on the music scene, as their next album “No Need to Argue”, released in 1994, topped the charts in several countries, including in the US where it reached No. 6 on the Billboard 200 chart. Also, it achieved multi-platinum status in the USA, UK, Canada and Australia, which only improved her net worth. Their third album “To the Faithfully Departed” (1996), is also one of their most successful, as it topped the charts in Ireland, Australia and New Zealand, and achieved platinum status in several countries, potentially adding a considerable amount to Dolores` net worth.
Before their hiatus in 2003, the band released two more albums, “Bury the Hatchet” (1999), which was far less popular than its predecessors, and “Wake Up and Smell the Coffee” (2001), which continued the decline of the band`s popularity.
After the break up, Dolores ventured into a solo career, and released two albums; her first came out in 2007 under the title “Are You Listening?”, reaching No. 77 on the Billboard 200 chart, while in the UK it peaked at No. 28. Her second album – “No Baggage” – came out in 2009, but wasn’t a major success. During the inactivity of The Cranberries, Dolores also collaborated with several artists, including Zuchero, Angelo Badalamenti and Giuliano Sangiorgi, among others.
In 2009, The Cranberries reunited for a world tour, and they released their sixth album “Roses” in early 2016, and then most recently”Something Else” in 2017, greeted with approval by critics and fans.
Additionally, Dolores became one third of the band eventually named “D.A.R.K” in 2014, also comprising of Andy Rourke, former bass player of the popular band The Smiths, and Olé Koretsky. They released the album , “Science Agrees” (2016), which also improved her wealth.
Regarding her personal life, Dolores was married to Don Burton from 1994 until 2014; the couple had three children. Despite divorce, she was apparently a devout Roman Catholic, and was a great admirer of the late Pope John Paul II, who she met twice, and performed at the Vatican’s Christmas concert in 2013 at the invitation of Pope Francis.
Dolores passed away on 15 January 2028, while in London for a recording session. Her cause of death was not immediately evident, although she was known to have suffered from bipolar disorder for a number of years.

Dolores O’Riordan Quotes
- You get older and come to the conclusion that it’s a great gig making music. Even if you turn into an old gnarly fart, no one cares what you look like if you write good songs. The only gig is to sing well and perform.
- It’s fun and games for a while, but then you’re burned out and it’s ‘Can we turn it off?’ But you can’t and when you want to go back to normalcy, that’s impossible. In 1997 we took time off and that’s when Oasis broke and Princess Diana died and I was home with my baby, hating the music industry. People asked me what I thought about the Spice Girls and I was so happy to tell them I couldn’t be bothered to care.
- (on Adele) She’s a voice and she’s classic. Like the fact that she doesn’t peel them off, ’cause all the other broads are like ‘here’s me bum’ and whatever. I find it kind of aggravating ’cause I always think ‘Just ’cause we’re women, why do have to have our boobs and butt hanging out?’
- You don’t always have to have long blonde hair and big huge knockers to be nice!
