DJ Mustard Wiki Biography
Dijon Isaiah McFarlane was born on 5 June 1990, in Los Angeles, California, USA. He is a DJ, record producer and songwriter probably best known for producing a string of singles from artists like rapper YG. He has also developed his own DJ style called “ratchet music”, songs that focus on melodic, club-oriented beats, also termed as strip club anthems. The music he’s produced has helped put his net worth to where it is today.
How rich is DJ Mustard? Sources estimate that his net worth is over $8 million, most of which can be traced back to his success producing music and beats for a number of different hip hop artists. He’s also released a few albums and does a bit of DJ work on the side.
Mustard became interested in becoming a DJ at 11 years old, when his uncle, a DJ, introduced him to the craft and let him play at a family party. He started to perform in several clubs using the production software Reason for his musical beats.
In 2010, DJ Mustard started making compilation albums and mixtapes from various artists, infusing his own personal touch. His net worth would dramatically rise in 2011, after he established a business relationship with the rapper YG. Since YG’s second mixtape, Mustard has been involved with all of YG’s releases. Later in the year, he received a recommendation and started to work with rapper Tyga for the song “Rack City”. The song made it to number sevenon the Billboard Hot 100 chart and received double platinum status. In 2012, he worked with Atlanta rapper 2 Chainz, on the song “I’m Different”, the song went to sell 500,000 copies digitally and became certified gold. DJ Mustard has also worked with various rappers including, Jadakiss, Bow Wow, and Young Jeezy. His net worth was rising steadily.
In 2013 Dijon released his debut album mixtape entitled “Ketchup”. The album had him collaborating with different artists for each song, including Lil Jon, Dom Kennedy, Nipsey Hussle, Kid Ink, and YG. He continued to work with artists like B.o.B, and later in the year he announced that he had signed with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation as an artist. Mustard is currently working on a studio album under Roc Nation. His net worth benefits accordingly.
For Dijon’s personal life, not much is disclosed. He keeps his life private and not many know about information regarding his family past, and life before becoming a professional DJ. His production style has been described as up-tempo, radio friendly with a rudimentary melody which has been recognized by critics as Mustard’s personal style. Other songs and productions that are similar to Mustard’s beats are often criticized to copy the DJ. He leaves a producer signature to most of the songs he has had a hand in. The signature is “Mustard on the beat, ho!” and it precedes the beat drop on his songs.
